At least it wouldn't be snowing...

I would prefer a new character archetype, don't want the same story plot again.

There would no reason to be the Dragonborn again. The dragon threat is largely dealt with, and if they had you play the same character they need an explanation why you're so weak again.

Well It has a myriad of problems what was the dragonborn in skyrim (race, gender, factions, guilds, etc) I mean it will be playable, but there will be a disconnect. Also it won't happen your character will start as a blank slate.

Another thing is the time between the 2 games how far in the future will it be .... so if it is quite a time only a mer dragonborn would survive
we got that, its beyond skyrim

It's not going to happen.....

I would give it a try if it did happen, but i won't..... TES is not that sort of series.

That would be a first not just for the Elder Scrolls series but for RPGs which are did not start off as the story of a single character (such as Mass Effect or Xenosaga).

Most RPG series have 'One and Done' stand-alone stories so that the main character does not need to degrade in between installments or combat game play styles to justify starting over as a rookie (see Final Fantasy X-2's switch from the Sphere Grid to the Garment Grid as an explanation for why Yuna is starting over again or Final Fantasy XIII- Lightning Returns becoming a real time combat game with Lightning serving as a Holy Knight rather than a L'Cie).

Would anyone want to see the Dovahkiin lose touch with The Force The Way of the Voice as an explanation as to why they have to take a refresher course on their combat skills?

Been there, done that. Let's move on.

They won't do that. None of the Elder Scrolls games have been "sequels" where the main player character returns to the next game release.

I don't think they will be able to continue with Dragonborn. Each ES game needs to start in a different "era" (not gamelore speaking - some are in the same in-game eras, of course) so that any choices players made are no longer relevant.

Think of this: if you get a game that comes directly after the events of Skyrim and features the same Dragonborn, then you'd have to account for all the player choices made in the previous game. Who won the civil war? Is Ulfric still alive or killed? Did the Dragonborn kill Titus Mede? Did the Dragonborn take over the College and the Thieves Guild? Or was Thieves Guild destroyed by Dragonborn and Mjoll?

There needs to be a lot of time (or space) separating each game so it's no longer important.

Probably not, no.. Unless a new dragon threat appears and your meant to be a different person, and not a continuation of Skyrim's DB.

"For some reason, you now feel entirely incompetent, and you have no idea which end of the sword you hold"

As to the timescale, what would happen if your some form of lich? a vampire? dragonthing or whatever other races people have modded in...
like.... my little pony?

Id *like* to see something like that, and you can do it (in some ways) in the dragon age saga, however, you don't actually play as Hawke, and you can't even meet the warden, so it's not entirely the same thing..
How it would work.. well, it wouldn't....
Not unless all the mods from Skyrim were ported over by beth so it knew what to do when it saw your some undead lich with a modded greatsword, and the ability to be a travelling "one man band" with every imaginable weapon visible on your body :steammocking:

Nice idea, would never actually work

The games actually don't pass that much time. Arena Takes Place in 3E 399 and Oblivon takes place in 3E 433.

All 4 games only span 34 years. There was just a massive Jump form Oblivion to Skyrim.

200 years, roughly~ is the time jump IIRC

Which, in some races lifespans, isn't even *that* long. Dunmer live longer than that

Ya, if you wanna get really specific it's 201. And yes, Both Altmer and Dunmer can live that long easy. Not sure about Wood Elves.

With magic is seems near limitless.
