(from pinned topic Helpful Links and References, Section 5, General Troubleshooting)
There are no files left from a mod. This new install is literaly on a new hard drive.
The next obvious question is, are your saves from a modded version??
And you are not using an old save, right, so it cannot be due to anything in the save itself.
- I had an old skyrim install with mods. No problems at all.
- I got bored and decided to play again.
- Coincidentally, i had recently adquired a new hard drive so i decided to fully delete skyrim's game files from the steam/steamapps/common folder and all of the related files, including plugins.txt and the skyrim ini files in documents folder
- I reinstalled skyrim and set the install route to the new drive.
- Skyrim currently is in a new drive that i recently got, all the left over files from the previous install are removed from the main drive in case steam reads them, i checked to see if skyrim.ini has the language set to enlish and it does.
- I had a mod that modified whiterun's cell by adding a chest, but it is no longer installed.
- The old save files have been redownloaded because i have the steam cloud storage enabled ( i might want to revisit some save in the future, who knows )
- I accidentally pressed load on an old save from the old profile, i didnt load into the game cause i noticed when i read the box listing the missing mods and chose the correct newly made profile.
My guess is that the moment i pressed that save, it must have loaded some info from it that is somehow telling skyrim to change the name of whiterun to weiblauf. But it doesnt seem to make much sense.
*Im currently reinstalling skyrim in another computer to see if creating a new profile and then loading the old save changes anything, i'll tell you in an hour or so the results of my tests when its installed.
