Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. It's supposed to be simpler to work with but IMO if you're 150 mods in, you're better off staying with Nexus, you're probably used to better quality content than what the vast majority of CC has to offer.
Speaking of which, I recently bought the Anniversary Edition Upgrade, which bundles a lot of the old Creation Club content into one massive bundle, and it's mostly really basic, short and pretty uninspired stuff. Boring fetch quests with the occasional interesting premise or quest here and there (Ghosts of the Tribunal was kind of neat and The Cause wasn't bad either).
As a whole, it's... passable, and if you can get it for cheap (5-10€), the upgrade itself is sort of worth it (assuming you don't have it already, of course).
The new Creation Club stuff seems more of the same. I haven't played it to be honest, but at a glance, the Verified Creators content ranges from bland to ok, some of it seems actually good, and the "normal" user stuff ranges from fine to absolutely horrendous.
The very fact that it's a store and the content is payable with in-game currency, per-mod, seems like a cheap, greedy cash-grab. Just find a mod on Nexus that does what you want and pay 0€ like you've been doing so far.
Next, Skyrim SE has continued to get updates (largely for Bethesda backend stuff). The current SkyrimSE.exe is 1.6.1170 and the correct version of skse for that is "Current Anniversary Edition build 2.2.6 (game version 1.6.1170)" Don't worry about Special Edition/Anniversary Edition distinctions-skse's only version check is for the common SkyrimSE.exe.
The skills you already possess with downloading mods from nexusmods and installing them with Vortex are still valid and most of your mods should still be perfectly functional. The big exception to that statement is skse and mods that rely on it. My recommendation is to stick with the current game version (1.6.1170), update your mods (especially the mods that rely on skse because many of them are version-dependent) and start a new game because that save is probably unsalvageable.
This guide can walk you through a lot of the compatibility issues and includes a link to a website that lists the update status of a whole bunch of the major skse-dependent mods.

Last, the in-game mod handler is still total rubbish compared to Vortex or MO2. Note that you can still use mods from bethesda.net and Vortex sitmultaneously. This utility allows you to import the mods from bethesda into Vortexhttps:// /www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/120
Hopefully this will give you a starting point for getting back on track.
Thanks for all the information. It's what I needed.
As active as the Skyrim modding scene is, there’s likely been thousands of new mods released since you last played.
Browse the Creations and Nexus offerings, rebuild your mod list, and dive back in.
It’ll likely take you some time, and you’ll undoubtedly have to do some troubleshooting (because that’s just how it goes), but it’ll be worth it as it’ll feel like playing for the first time again if you get yourself a bunch of new mods that interest you.
