Elemental Blast is the expert tier of the spell and does 40 points of fire and 40 points of shock for 80 total damage, and it works off all destruction perks including the frost ones. It is by far the most powerful spell in the game. However the AOE can hit friendly NPCs, but so can unbound flames, so I'm assuming you're going to get the perk that negates that.
I bought AE not too long ago so I haven't checked everything so far. I wanted to make fire based mage but I'm starting to think it's pointless.
Nope, it's just an AOE blast, doesn't send enemies flying. Sticking to one element can cause problems if you encounter enemies resistant or immune to that damage type, granted fire isn't too bad, but lightning is a bit better in most cases. Pretty much as long as it isn't ice, for obvious reason.
You could call Elemental Blast a fire spell though, it is in part at the very least and the explosion is mostly fire.
Honestly magic in general was not handled well in this game, it doesn't scale at all.
It's a problem that happens in interiors when u cast a spell that makes all items around impact fly. You can miss some good stuff or quest notes etc.
I was hoping unbounded flames could be a good dmg spell with the help of summoned minions and potions/poisons (for toughter enemies)
How does Dual cast work with Unbounded flames ? That spell makes you shooting fireballs like Goku
:Sorry I can't test it right now
"UESP Unbounded Flames"
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Unbounded_Flames
And read that Dual casting increases the spell effectiveness by 120%
With most spells in Skyrim it all comes down to which perks you have unlocked. as to what sort of effect or damage your going to be doing.
Of course casting AOE spells like that, as Rez Elwin said you'll need to worry about friendly fire to any guards or citizens and likely be getting bounties if any innocents are hit.
I prefer Lighting as a Elemental spell and Thunderbolt as the best available instant cast spell
It sounds good on paper but how about reality ?
I forgot some innocent NPC may get in my way. I was thinking about summons becouse they can die anyway.
: It doesn't say anything about Impact Stagger, though :(
Higher Level single shot spells can even stun Mammoths and Dragons as long as they have relevant perks and are dual cast.
I suppose the AOE could make items fly, I have not tested it, but I assume it's the same as fireball, but you have the same issue with unbound flames, that also has an AOE blast, granted it's much smaller.
As for friendly fire, well it can happen, there is a Perk acquired from a Black Book that negates damage to followers in combat but I don't think it affects summons, only actual followers. Large battles with friendly npcs are not common outside the cival war though.
Thanks for the info
so I decided to try tap-firing Unbounded Flames and it deals crazy DPS now,
it seems to have the same quirk tied with Unbounded Freezing where casting will deal rapid damage but only the initial few seconds, you have to recast again to "reset" the rapidly decaying DPS
