Because porn is popular, video games are popular, and it is possible to combine both. It isn't illegal, and even if Bethesda cared (they don't) there is nothing they could do about it. And you are also wrong - there are many porn mods for Starfield.
The only issue would be if the modders are using some copy written, intellectual property, or trademarked content. But even then if Bethesda isn't hosting the content, it isn't their problem.
And this isn't just a Bethesda thing. Any game where it is possible to mod, very likely has porn mods of one kind or another.
No, they can't. Because it isn't illegal. You can not prevent modders from making mods. Especially when it comes to Bethesda, who want you to mod their games. They even encourage it by putting out the Creation Kits for various games.
Even games that don't support modding can be modded. It just simply isn't possible to prevent mods from being made, and some of those mods will inevitably be ones someone considered pornographic.
It’s just the reality of it. It’s kinda like the same idea as Rule 34. Even going back to the days of the original Tomb Raider - someone made a mod to make Lara Croft naked…in all her blocky, cone boobied glory.
As for why Bethesda doesn’t do anything - they can’t.
Well, they could but then it betrays their hands off approach to mods.
See, Bethesda has it written in the legalese of their games that they are not responsible for the creation of, maintenance of, or content of the mods users make for them (the games).
This protects them from being held liable for mods whose content is illegal.
So if someone were to make a mod that uses a bunch of assets from say - Assassins Creed - and Ubisoft doesn’t like this, Ubisoft can’t sue Bethesda for copyright infringement. Instead, Ubisoft has to send a cease and desist order either directly to the creator of the mod or the website(s) that host it.
Alternatively, if someone were to make a mod that allows you to engage in…activities…with child NPCs, the mod maker and/or the host website(s) are held responsible, not Bethesda.
The key to maintaining this protection is that Bethesda cannot involve themselves directly in the goings on of free mods. As soon as they do, they lose that ability to claim non-liability.
Trying to fight it is just a waste of money for the companies. All it would do is draw attention to those mods, and they would become even more popular.
No need to be preachy, no need to download them let others have some fun their way.
Now I think you are just trolling. That isn't even remotely true. There is a good chunk of the world where pornographic materials are illegal (mostly Africa, the Middle East, India, and China) but not the majority of the world.
Illegal maybe seek the Literal definition of illegal as against the LAW and now do your homework in which countries it's illegal. IF it was illegal why do those mods exists or xxx films or phub for that matter? Don't you think if it was illegal those media would be so openly advertised and available?
Additionally, if you go to the Artwork tabs of pretty much any game featuring any female characters, including games that can't be modded at all, they are full of lewds. All of this is just amounts to a sordid commentary on people and the internet.
Assuming your post has some genuine spirit of inquiry and isn't just intended to start a silly row, the nekkid mods in Bethesda games are just more obvious because BGS games are easy to mod and there are many, many more mods of all types for BGS games than for most other games.
