saved games and settings
So I am having this issue with most of my elder scrolls games, and only them, where my settings don't save. On Skyrim itself, my games don't save anymore, the settings of Skyrim only saves in another user profile I created while trouble shooting with the devs.

anyone else have some advice?

I have, there is a saved games folder, where all my others games save, I have uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller to completely remove any traces and then reinstalled Skyrim again, and tried again, same issue presists.

anything else that could block it for instance an AV?

I allowed the games through AV already. I forgot to mention, before purchasing the game I had the cracked version of it, and those saved games were picked up, but before installing the purchased one I removed the old one (except the saved games) I had no issues with the cracked version of the game changing settings through launcher or inside the game, nor saving games.

also dagger fall and Oblivion games are saved. Oblivion is just the settings issue, I went into my AV firewall to make sure its allowed

if you are having the same issue with multiple games, maybe the settings and saves ARE working. running windows one drive? look in the one drive folder.

I don't use the one drive. its only so far with those 2 games. I have no issues with any other games. the moment I go into another user (as explained at the start of discussion) it works fine. I think there is something that might be missing from my admin profile, and that is where my issue lies, but not entirely sure where to start looking or what to look for.

Are you using a mod manager, and which one ? For me Mod Organizer saves in which ever profile I am playing.
Have you done a clean install such that all old data is removed ?

yes I did a clean install of Skyrim. with Revo Uninstaller to remove every trace. I'm not using a mod manager. I'm just using the in game creation on Skyrim.

"most of my elder scrolls games, and only them, where my settings don't save."
"its only so far with those 2 games."
so it is two games and not many games

have installed bethesda games on win me xp 7 10 and 11 since morrowind in 2002.
do not know of any profile settings that change where to store settings files for only two games.

it is possibly to change location of the Documents folder for everything.
right click on Documents in the file manager
then properties then location

in your admin login it should read C:\users\yourAdminLogin\Documents
maybe yours is pointing to another account
but then all your games would store settings/saves elsewhere.

you can have one drive turned off for all users but running for your admin account.

if you ran revo uninstaller, then the steam game folder should be gone, the game registry entries, as well as folder
c:\users\yourLoginAccount\appdata\local\skyrim special edition
and you said you deleted Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition

so where does a clean install get changed to store skyim and oblivion settings in another account folder? it is not downloaded that way. there are no entries in the registry nor files on the hard drive to change the location.

uninstall skyrim again with revo. delete the Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition folder. search the windows registry for skyrim. should NOT find anything.

Revo Uninstaller doesn't remove the steam folder itself, I went into that folder with all my steam apps to check for installation files and stuff, and to see if there were any traces of the saved games. All other games and their saves work 100%

the other accounts use the same steam files and are not affected. that leaves the cracked version changed something/left something behind that is STILL doing something on your admin account

mod organizer tool also can move .ini files

what mod organizer should I try?. The clean install of Skyrim gets installed in my steamapps folder under steam directly. Oblivion my games are saved, its just the settings get reset to the 680 resolution settings.

that topic can be better answered by one of the forum mod gurus. you can check the pinned forum topics while waiting for a response. lots of modding tips/help in them.

3 mod managers to choose from: Mod Organizer 2, Vortex or Wrye Bash.
