Survival Mode turned off, but it's still affecting me??
What do. I don't really like it and I can't see a way to uninstall that specific mod, or turn it off in the load order. Kinda shoddy design on their part, since I've got it disabled and I'm still affected by cold (as I just found out) and I still suffer from the affects of fatigue and hunger.

I never asked for this. How do I get rid of this?

Gonna reply to myself. I restarted, and this time made sure to select "no" to survival mode after completing Unbound. Good enough for me. It's weird that disabling it in the menu doesn't work.

Disabling it in the menu does work, unless you have a mod or glitch preventing it. And there has been a glitch since the last patch that causes some people to not be able to change difficulties or enable/disable survival mode.

Survival Mode also isn't a mod. It is one fo the Creation Club things (along with Saints % Seducers, Rare Curios, and Fishing) that have been given for free to everyone who owns Special Edition. It is part of the base game now.

If I refuse to download those Creation Kit items, I don't get them. Therefore, they are mods. Let's not get that confused please.

You say "disabling it in the menu does work" and then you say "there's a glitch since the last patch that causes some people to not be able to change difficulties or enable/disable survival mode."

That is what we call mixed signals.

Not mixed signals. The number of people having issues is a small minority. Read every word. "Some people" is not all people. You just happen to be one of the unfortunate ones in the minority. The majority of players don't have that problem.

Unless they have changed things, and as far a I know they haven't, you do not get the option to not download those 4 Creation Club items. They get automatically downloaded through Steam, unlike the other Creation Club things (which get downloaded through the game itself.) At one time in the past, they were optional. But no longer.

Either way, it was broken. Even if I am in the "small minority" (and Google shows this number is not pithy btw) it's still a problem. You saying "it works" but then "it doesn't work for some people" is saying two different things.

You aren't technically wrong, but I'm also not wrong when I say that you said both of those things, which does send mixed signals. Also editing your post is a nice touch. Regardless, problem solved, so as far as this goes I cannot care anymore.

curios, saintssinners, fishing, and survival come from steam and are still CC content, the rest you have to log in to beth.net (or "find" them elsewhere) you've already GOT them, make no mistake, survival IS a mod, they're all mods - DLCs are mods, CC content are mods, CCC submissions are mods, modddb mods are mods, nexusmods mods are mods, etc... all are game MODifications... they all work the exact same way. The only difference in mods are bethesda-style ES mods, and compiled .dll script extender mods. Caring about Bethesda's paywall is one thing, caring where you got the mods from, is just silly.

it does in fact normally work for most people; lots of gamers might enable/disable survival a dozen times in a single playthrough when they just don't feel like dealing with it right now... it's either a glitch, or something to do with your setup.

Are you using SkyUI? if not, then doesn't apply, JC.

look, survival mode is a quest, that's how it affects you constantly - it's an overall over-arcing quest and your warmth/wetnetss/cold/tiredness/hunger/thirst are all quest variables... each controlled by a sub-quest that checks status, like Survival_NeedColdQuest, that slows you down as you get colder. You can directly manipulate the variables if say you're freezing to death and want to be warmed by a magical invisible fire, for example. If you want survival to end but the menu won't do it, I'm guessing something like 'stopquest SurvivalModeMainQuest' (or completequest) will, if you're not ready to give up that other toon just yet.

edit: possessive noun placement matters!

Wasn't using any mods aside from the ones that came with the game when this was happening. I've since started a new playthrough and ensured to select no to survival mode, and now it's not a problem. I've also since placed a bunch of mods to upscale everything to 4k.
