steam overlay and skse have nothing to do with each other. the SkyrimSE.exe has the steamworks API wrapper embedded in it, it doesn't matter how you launch it, you can launch it from File Explorer with steam client closed; doing so fires up steam, logs you in, and launches the game and the overlay, if enabled.
so first, make sure under Skyrim's properties->general, that you didn't disable it for this game.
I never disabled the steam overlay (properties->general) in Skyrim. The only thing I changed was the key combination that calls it up. That is, it's not the default shift+tab, I have one "Home" key.But it still doesn't work. If I knew what the reason was and how to fix it, maybe it would work in vanilla and in SKSE with mods. Since everything is fine with Fallout 4 and F4SE.
SKSE and F4SE - aren't they similar things? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Only update this game when i launch it.
Never allow background downloads.
DLC enabled.
Everything else, disable. Cause it will only cause problems.
