Illia follower bug needs to be fixed
Hi all. I think this is a very old issue inherited from the original edition. As you might have known, Illia from Darklight tower can only be recruited once. Once you dismiss her, you won't be able to recruit her as a follower again, even if she becomes your steward or join the Blades. I don't want to use mod or console to solve the problem. I am just wondering why this bug has not been fixed since it was discovered 10 years ago?! The anniversary edition seems very good, but I am very disappointed that Bethesda just does not care about the old bugs. Anybody has the same feeling?

The unofficial patch fixes it, but yeah, it's annoying. The game resets her friendship with you to zero (i believe) after a few days or something. These are issues they should have fixed a long time ago, instead they rely on modders to do it for them, modders who might have questional intentions along the line as well by adding things they are not supposed to.

It's a little annoying as she is one of my favorite stewards to get, but once a steward always a steward, so she stays there no matter what, so gameplay wise it doesn't do a whole lot for me thankfully.

Hi, I just found that Illia can now be recruited again after dismissing her. I tried several times in the Darklight Tower where I found her. So maybe the bug does not exist anymore. I haven't tried to make her my steward yet, so I have no idea whether it will still works for steward Illia or Blades Illia. Have you tried?

What do you mean? You mean the bug remained there when you tried to recruit her again? Was Illia your steward?

The bug isn't fixed, look you can recruit here get rid of her and recruit her again sure, but you tried just leaving her along for a few days?, cause that hasn't been fixed. And yes she's my steward.

So the problem lies in the time you leave her? Still I think there is a difference between the glitches. All I read before was that she cannot be recruited again whenever you dismiss her. But someone said this does not happen when she becomes a Blades member, someone else said you have to let her ask to be your steward herself, but you should not ask her yourself. So maybe the glitch is not triggered 100%?

Who says it's a bug? You did a favor for her, she owes you one, she follows you a bit, pays off that debt, and no longer owes you a favor.

Edit: Not saying it's not a bug, but it's still a perfectly reasonable explanation.

The problem is that sometimes it happens and sometimes not (meaning she will follow you for many times). If this is totally random and if the developer of this game did not intend for it, it is a bug.

Fair enough. Was just trying to throw out options. Bethesda made some weird choices with some things and there are a few "bugs" that USSEP fixes that i would argue were intended behavior, so sometimes I opt for "not a bug".

But yeah, if it's inconsistent then...bug.

In all the many thousands of hours I have played, in both versions, she has never shown this behavior. I have, however, used the Unofficial patch since its inception.
