What are the best combat potions?
Obviously you need heal, stamina, and Magicka (if you are a caster). What else is extremely useful?

Not potions but STEWS and SOUPS
Elsweyer Fondue (Fort Frostmore on Solstheim has a room with good amount of needed ingredients)
Horker Stew
Beef Stew
Vegetable Soup
Vension Stew

I've found block % increase to be pretty useful if you're doing melee focused, shield or not.

Technically not a "potion" but combo poison damage and slow is great. I forget the ingredient combination I use for it and I'm away from the game to check.

Agreed. Keep in mind, however, that if you're doing Survival mode then health regen of soups is disabled. Not sure if that's intentionally part of the passive health regen disabling, or an oversight

Btw, can the survival from AE be disabled or is it forced? (I only used Frostfall and Ineed once and i hated it, its just more of the already timeconsuming and retarded inventory managment simulator, when i mod my game my focus is to reduce that crap and not increase it)

Yes, it's a checkbox in the menu for each character. And unlike things like difficulty and control settings, it saves individually for each character if the box is checked or not. You can also activate/deactivate it at any time. So if you try it and don't like it, you don't have to revert a save, just uncheck the box.

I've never brewed stews and soups before. I guess I have to look them up!

Hmm, can 2Hs really benefit from Block? If so, then is it also worth going down the Blocking Perks line for 2Hs?

And yes, poisons are great - both the pure damage one and the Paralyze one. I forgot about them indeed, so thanks for the reminder!

Hmm, I have a mod that disables passive HP regeneration. So would stews and soups not work for my games as well then?

As long as it doesn't specify needing a shield, it works for weapon blocking. The reduced damage taken for a block perk (the base block perk with multiple ranks) and block effectiveness from potions and enchantments will both work with weapon blocking.

I can't answer that. It depends what values the mod changes. Alucard on here could answer that better than I could, I believe they did a dive into the Survival mode to check out why soup health regen wasn't working. Hopefully they pop in and see this to expand on it for you.

That said, it should be an easy test. Soups are pretty cheap and easy to make, so make one with the health regen and keep an eye on the health bar to see. They're pretty slow, usually 1 point per second for a few minutes. So they heal a lot, just slowly.

Got it. I will try to fit Block in then - after getting other more primary combat Perks in order.

But I like things spoon-fed to me! ;) Okay, okay, I will test myself ;)

Any type of health poison goes a long way against spriggans.

Paralysis poison is obviously an extremely good emergency poison as well. Best way to get it is to mix swamp fungal pods with canis root or imp stool, as all 3 aren't too hard to find.
