right. every guard in skyrim carries a torch at night.
but i have to pickpocket them to get torch ? you realize fpr yourself that this is unworthy for a hero with a lawful atttude, it doesnt even make sense.
or find torches in dungeons (why would i go there without a torch in the first place).
so i, as the dragnborn start stealing torches from guards, since there is NO OTHER WAY (other than grabbing what you find in other dungeons, mines at walls) to get one?
it dosent make the slightest sense --- how long is that game around now?
why would i crawl around in the darkness? ever been in a cave without light?
oh my god, seriously --
i can buy daggers, and swords, and warhammers .... any whatnot ... but torches, which are everywhere in the world, carried, by everyone, cannot be obtained at any merchant? or crafted, or wahtever?
(ofc you would have to make the buying price MUCH higher then selling price)
or sell me a lantern for good bucks, or whatever, which make sense on an intuitivly acceptable level.
It's because they're not a normal item- they're a Light object, the usually invisible markers placed in the content tools and used to make something like a candle appear to give off light.
It is possible however to give Light objects an actual model, and there's a special flag plainly called "This Light Can Be Carried" to make it something an entity can carry in their inventory
However, being a "light" object, they don't fall under any of the categories that a Merchant-capable NPC uses to determine what they'll trade. (Weapon, Apparal, Ingestible, Alch, etc.)
There are several locations where you can obtain torches from the walls. However, torches are not infinite, they do run out after a bit, so you'd still be better off getting the spell if you need light, use a staff if you don't want to use the actual spell.
You might think it's dumb, but there isn't ever a need for torches in the base game, you chose to make it darker with a mod, so use another mod for light, I recommend wearable lanterns.
Nah, you can buy those. I think blacksmiths sometimes have them.
Torches, woodcutting axes, firewood, pickaxes, fur armor, etc.
True, they don't have much use in full-vanilla game, but it would nice if 'Survival Mode' had added them to the shops/crafting recipes.
There's already very little use for them in the vanilla game, so meh
