Crashes near Wolfskull Cave...
I've now approached this location from about a dozen different locations and my game crashes at a certain point whilst moving towards this location.

Now, I have both Nolvus and a number of Nexus quest mods on my game so don't know if any of those is causing an in-game conflict, but is this isolated to me or a more general issue (for my info...)?

Could you be more clear, at which location it crashes. Is it prior to the ice going away on the floor so that the entrance is cleared.

Mod packs are not designed to be added to.

If the crash happens at exact loading distance from location, this could be an issue with broken/corrupted mesh that was added to location.

If you have both Nolvus and additional mods then trying to figure out that one is going to be a pain.

Now, I am not saying that it is 100% related to mesh, but if it happens in exact distance from any direction, then it has a very good chance to be.

Forgive me if I misinterpreted your post, but it sounds like you installed additional mods over a Nolvus base. If that is the case, IMO it is likely you have a mod conflict-if any of your mods made changes to landscape, trees, or buildings, they may be interfering with the Dyndolod running processes, and may be conflicting with the LODGEN and Dyndolod output files (which are prepackaged in Nolvus) as well. Additionally, IDK what your modpack's Synthesis patches modify, but you might have conflicts there as well.

Unfortunately, your modpack has hundreds of mods and with 11 different utility output files that could realistically be affected by quest mods or terrain changes, it is unlikely that anybody here can pinpoint a specific problem. Your best bet is to contact the Nolvus support website and see if they can sort out your problems.

I have a similar issue but its for the 2011 release not the 2016 special edition which is the edition we are on now. its like this issue where it crashes but its on a differnet locations its the location near helgen i forgot the name sorry its near a stormcloak camp and you are sent here on a mission to save a tree in whiterun city. this only happens to me on the old 2011 release.

To be fair, I've not been monitoring the compass to see how far out I am, but I suspect you are right here.

It also sounds that this may be an issue unique to me. That being the case, I'm content that that particular cave is a quest location that I can skip as it sounds as if a mission to save a tree is more likely to be a side quest...

you can always try moving yourself into the cave before getting close enough where some wonky cell content is causing a crash, if you don't feel like the headache of solving this... next time you load up try 'coc wolfskullcave01' and when you're done 'coc whiterunexterior01' or wherever you want to go instead of walking out...

Not an option as not a location I've 'discovered' yet, else I'd just fast travel to it...

you don't know how console commands work, son :-) it will work.

I don't, so I will try it. Thank you, although I do wonder if I'm maybe old enough to actually be your father...
Skyrim Remastered - Glaciers and Ice LODs
Skyrim Underground - Add-On
Skyrim Remastered - Caves Parallax

Found these 3 mods in the Nolvus mod list. Try it, with parallax settings disabled.
shift+f12.

I said the command would work, not that it would magically fix your problem. you can teleport to anywhere in the game whenever you want with 'coc', whether or not it's a good idea; if you don't want to walk from riverwood to whiterun but feel like popping to mirrak's temple over in solstheim at level 1, just 'coc' yourself there.

then it's the wolfskull cave cell itself that's the issue, that's the point of trying. on your overland approach, depending on your grids to load setting in your ini, it starts pre-loading stuff for you to "help" have a smooth game, which is how when things crash in a repeatable way, gives you clues as to what. this was to test if it was something overland that was causing it. but teleporting yourself inside from a great distance away it starts loading that cell's contents, and since it puked...

there's still a few ways to deal with it if you don't feel like diving into your logs and mod configuration or load order/overwrites and figuring it all out, you can move the quest along manually, just 'setstage <questID> #' or 'completequest <questID>' if it's a radiant quest and you just ignore that spot for now, problem being wolfskull is a common destination for like 4 separate things, it will likely get picked again for something, so you'll have to do these commands again.

tell us what you want to do and what quest it was, we'll tell you how to get by it this time. but it'll likely happen again. or just yes you can ignore it. that's a thing, too. though if one thing's broke there's a high probability other things are, too. rare is the install with just one glitch; more likely, just one left to fix!

don't wonder, we're both on the wrong side of 50. :-) look again at my avatar's name. it has multiple meanings, but you'll relate to the original one. you know the old saying: old gamers never die, they... gaaak.. <thud>

there's actually quite a lot of us greybeards here; look for the ones that use full sentences.

We can but hope. It was a good tip, I am aware of the console but my only exposure to it in BGS games is when I hit it instead of '1' of 'tab' at inopportune moments and then panic until I realise what I've done...

I can live without access to one cave. The quest I was on was Belethor's (sp?) sister and was just trying to reach that area by passing landmarks on the way, When I crashed I just tried to diagnose it by trying to reach it from different directions.

I've actually spent the last few days just wandering around the map trying to 'discover' all the landmarks and not had this problem anywhere else on the map, so not particularly an issue that I can't access this one cave.

Fair play, I got rid of my grey beard (which matches my full head of grey hair) at the start of the year, but I like the idea of Greybeards...nice to talk to you...
