Generally, exercise caution. If a mod advertises itself as 1170 compatible it’s 100% safe (or as safe as a mod can be).
If it’s 1.6.1130 it could be safe, might not. Same for 1.6.6xx it might not be okay. It might be fine.
If you have a mod you’re not sure about, add it by itself, load up the game and test. Then you’ll know if it’s good or not.
in PO3's 1.6.6+ and in "Skyrim AE 1.6.6xxxx and above" examples above, well, 1.6.1170 is "+" and "above" 1.6.6xxx... you're padding the xxx with 0s in your mind, thinking it's 6000 when it's 639, 640, etc. 1170 is the current and highest.
