Save Ondolemar?
Is there a mod that prevents Ondolemar from being "killed" during the quest where Tullius and Ulfirc meet with the Dragonborn at High Hrothgar? If not how do I make that happen in the creation kit? Or is it possible to not hand Markarth over to Ulfric during the meeting? If so how do I do that?

Its not that particularly like the character, its just that hes the leader of the Justiciars in ALL of Skyrim. So, he feels like too important of a set piece to just have an off-screen death. You'd think he'd go to Solitude with the exiled Jarl and his court members like everyone else.

I know I can prevent him from dying if I join the imperials before the meeting, but I don't normally do the civil war questline at all. And if I do, I like to do it after the main questline. It doesn't really make sense to take part in a war during a literal apocalyptic event where a time eating dragon has threatened to devour the world!

So yeah! Any help or suggestions on how to prevent his death?

Both are from uespwiki.
You have to keep the balance by conceding to both sides.

What causes me to get either of the two options in the meeting?
If I join the Stormcloaks - will Tullius stand up and demand Riften? Or is there another way to trigger Tullius demanding Riften? Can I still join the imperials after the meeting if I joined the Stormcloaks first?
Yep, that seems to be it, see, there are two options that can't be avoided,
either giving Markarth as imperial or giving Riften as Stormcloak.

BAH! That sucks! If I take up arms with Ulfirc before the meeting, I should be able to switch sides after though, right?... just if I wanted to take part in the Civil War later?

There are multiple points to switch over depending on what point you are at.

The best way to switch over is to give the Jagged Crown to General Tulius instead of
Ulfric Stormcloak or vice versa if you started at the other side.

How about after the Jagged Crown Quest? Can I switch over after that? And does that come before the siege of Whiterun? Sorry, its been quite a long time since I've done the Civil War questline.

NO, (EXCEPT DURING SEASONS UNENDING)
By that I mean the only times you can switch over are during seasons unending and
the Jagged Crown quest.

This is so far the best way to switch sides is

"The best way to switch over is to give the Jagged Crown to General Tulius instead of

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRGH!

*places hands together to form the pyramid of evil contemplation!*

How about console commands! Is there a console command I could use to bypass the Season Unending quest. So for instance, I learn of the palace being a prison for dragons from Paarthunaax then I go to speak with Balgruuf, but put in a console command to skip it - then he simply agrees to let me trap Odahviing! No civil war quests no friggin meeting no dead elf in some random coffin in Markarth!

Maybe I am not sure.
Ps. console commands can mess things up when using setstage, so save beforehand.
Maybe someone'll get the idea to make mod that makes Season Unending a totally neutral quest with vanilla dialogue assets and voice. Till then... I'll just kill the damn elf myself, ♥♥♥♥! At least then it didn't happen off screen!

So if I join the Stormcloaks for a bit, but don't do the siege on Whiterun, I can still do Season Undeneing? Then Tullius will demand Riften, saving Ondolemar, correct? Afterward I can switch sides if I want to?

Yes, remember to give the crown to tulius when you get the crown if you want to switch sides.

Thank you! Seems my best bet for the time being. Perhaps one day we'll get a mod that implements a script that'll make him leave with Igmund and his court. OR restores him to the original role Bethesda had planned for him. Being in that (currently empty) Thalmor office in Solitude's Castle Dour above Tullius and Rikke's location.
