But yeah, you gotta just delete your saves and start a new when you enable, disable, add, or remove mods most of the time.
Think of it like anything else. What would happen if you tried using JK Skyrim, JK Solitude Outskirts, Enhanced Solitude, Enhanced Solitude Docks, and Redbag’s Solitude all at once with no patches?
Unless two or more follower mods are stated to be compatible with one another or there’s a patch of some sort to make them compatible and combine them - choose only one.
Personally, I’ve never had an issue with NFF by itself, and I think it’s still regarded as the best, most up to date follower framework mod. Using another mod that makes you able to have multiple followers accompany you at once isn’t needed anyways - NFF has that feature.
The less obvious is that there exist follower mods having functions included making them incompatible with follower framework mods. Check the mod's description and the comments/bugs to figure, if a follower mod is prone to break your game, when using a follower framework.
When using Nether's Follower Framework (NFF) and also having a custom follower (Inigo, Sofia, Sa'chil, etc.) installed, do not use the import follower option. This will potentially cause issues with that custom follower.
Additionally, do not import quest followers, such as Serana, until after all related quests are complete.
