AE is just SE bundled with a ton more free stuff,
Skse and some mods claim to need "Anniversary Edition". This is just a confused way of saying they need Skyrim Special Edition version 1.6+. Our general advice is to read the modpages carefully to see which version of SkryimSE.exe the mod needs and otherwise just ignore Special Edition vs. Anniversary Edition distinctions.
Mods often use AE to give a hint that you need a version of 1.6.x and they use SE to hint that you need version 1.5.97.
Only mods that modify creation club content need the DLC "Anniversary Edition".
Yeah Mod authors had me confused for a second. Thanks
