Will a GTX 1050 run this?
Heya, was wanting to play some modded Skyrim. I have LE currently but a lot of people say this is better

I only have a GTX 1050 though, so worried I maybe won't be able to actually run this. If I turn graphics settings down, and install mods that aren't related to graphics, what kind of performance do you think I'd be looking at?

Edit: I went ahead and picked it up. Not sure when I will actually get to playing it (busy weekend, plus I need to set up mods), but I will try to update with my findings in case anyone else stumbles across this

should be totally fine.
I run this with a 1070 and have no issues whatsoever.
With texture mods I do pick the 1k versions, I'm not able to see the difference with 2k+ unless i put my face against my monitor.
It's about the HD space, not so much performance.

Recommended is a 970, 1060 or 1650. Even though it doesn't look like a big change in numbers, those cards are a lot better than a 1050. You can probably play it at low settings?, but modding is mostly out of the question. The dude above has a 1070, that card is literally three times as powerful as what you have so don't take that as any proof it's going to run properly for you.

SE is a more stable version than the old version, cause of 64 vs 32 bit, it also has some basic graphic upgrades. But for now, it might not really be worth it.
Thanks y'all. This is kind of what I was gathering, but most posts were directly referencing graphics mods so I wasn't sure the performance costs of other ones. Guess I'll save up for now, and stick to LE/Obliv/MW

Recommended is a 780, and minimum is a 470. The 1050 falls squarely between them

It should run vanilla for sure, I am just unsure how much GPU strain non graphic based mods would add, since it may not run with those

Non graphical are going to likely have more of a CPU hit. If that's up to snuff, you should be fine

780 is as powerful as a 970, 1060 or 1650, it doesn't matter which one you pick.
Edit: power consumption, yeah i guess that, 1650 is hella cheap power wise.

I'm still rocking a 1080 and can set to full everything with no issues.

1080 is so above a 1050 it's not even close, it's effective speed is over 200% what a 1050 can do.

It's even better than that.

Then again, so many people think the higher the number of the card the better, i had someone years ago who thought that his economical work laptop was really powerful and better than my computer cause it had gt 1030. He payed big cash for it and probably got ripped off, it was as powerful as my old ass gtx 460, that's just sad.

If your on a budget, try and track down a 1660ti. I used that card with 2k graphics packs constantly and never had a problem.

A Nintendo Switch can run Skyrim.
You'll be fine.
I'm on a 1440p monitor, so an old card will run Cybperpunk 2077 maxed out and Skyrim is not even in the same ballpark as Cyberpunk. If you "need" 4K, then no probably not.

The Switch version is highly optimized FOR the switch, details are lower, massive fps drops, higher rate of crashing.

He could play it at low settings, but at that point why bother buying it when he has the regular version of Skyrim.

I will say real quick that the main reason I want the SE is so that I have more mod options. It took a few years after SE released but at this point most mod authors have abandoned development for LE. It is a lot harder to do research for LE because almost no one is playing it

I might just get it since I know I'll want it anyway once I upgrade

Hello, I bought skyrim for the second time on summer sale since I am a returning player from old skyrim version. I might add my experience a bit.
I play on iGPU laptop in low-medium setting vanilla. I think your 1050 can run this okay.
If you want to get more of performance and insertion of post processing effect get this mod: SkyrimUpscaler, ReShade.
and 'BethIni' for quick settings preset.
with good tweaks i got constant 60fps interior, 30-45fps exterior.
I never installed e.n.b bcs I know it wont be a pleasant trip to repair shop.:zaglol: If you're confident enough, try tinkering with community shaders.
as for QoL modding, this is the one I use for starter "Essential Mods for Skyrim" collection. saves you hours of searching, and opens your game to installing potential new mods every other day ;D it's a better practice to search for backward compatible and lightweight mods. :steamhappy:
