Solved: Can't do horizontal power attacks / Stuck in Bloodskal Barrow

Like the title said, I can't do horizontal power attacks, I didn't even know that was a thing until now as my character has always just done the regular vertical attack. Also, I'm in the Bloodskal Barrow trying to unlock the door with the sword, but I'm now stuck because I cannot perform the sideways power attack.

Doesn't work, it just does the regular vertical power attack

hmmm do you have a controller? I know that side power attacks are much easier on controller

This can take some practice before you get it down pat.

hmmm do you have a controller? I know that side power attacks are much easier on controller

I've tried holding down A or D and then M1 and nothing and also pressing A or D and holding down M1 at the same time and nothing. Really out of options here. Maybe I should just try a controller to get the door open.

Are you in Third Person?
It's known that Bloodskaal blade has issues if you are in first person.

That is a big part of it. "That" being the correct key/mouse presses. Your technique in the way you move your character is equally important.

That is a big part of it. "That" being the correct key/mouse presses. Your technique in the way you move your character is equally important.

It shouldn't be this difficult if it works easily on controller.

Oh god no way I'm playing with a controller, controls are so messed up and you can't even edit them at least in the game. Anyway, I tried the same thing that I did before and it's still not doing a power attack horizontally. What is going on?

Your stamina has to be at almost 100%. You should aim above your head towards the top of the doorway arch. Sometimes you have to do a double mouse click to get a power attack to work because there has always been a delay between activating the mouse and an action in this game. Hold the mouse button down on the second click until the swing is completed.
The first time I did this part of the quest, I was stuck in there for days.

How are controller controls messed up what? Those are like basic controls in any game.
