Myth or Truth there is a noise that tells you when the pick is in the right place? I've seen multiple videos but I dont hear it

From what I understand, it only occurs if you're playing with a controller, but even then, I've seen some people playing with a controller, and the clicking noise was everywhere no matter how they carefully moved the lockpick around.

Maybe it's a console exclusive feature?

I dunno, has any 1 actually bothered to digitally analyse the sound? or even really listened, I mean i can pick master locks, with no skill in lockpicking.

I'm jus about to play Slyrim any-way :-) I'll find a lock an start experimenting.

Its weird how many mistakes you make in skyrim videos or people are just now finding out articles phone sends me talking about this noise and I cant find it even if i find the right spot and go back and forth listening

So im guessing its a mod people arent admitting to hoping it will drive people nuts listening for it

U may not be able to differentiate, the sound from the other sounds of the tumblers, my hearing is a little above the average, that said, i think it's a myth too, but want to find out for mu self :-)

EDIT: after 10 mins of back an forthin with locks, I couldn't hear any difference, in the tones of the tumblers, even the reverb was the same.

It is a myth.

There is no difference in sound telling you if you're in the right spot. This was only a thing in Oblivion, it's not a feature in Skyrim.

I do it, by bouncing the lock, gently, a RL skill called "Bumping".. If ya very very careful, u can "bounce" the lock, until it stops bouncing, and starts turning.
xRandyR00x Jul 7, 2024 @ 11:57am
and how exactly does one bounce a lock? :D

It's a myth, OP. Oblivion had it in the vanilla game, but vanilla SKyrim does NOT have it. So if you're hearing it in videos, I'd say it was either some audio form of the Mandela effect, or there's a mod involved.

Well D move's the lock, on a logarithmic scale, if you hold d down, it spins rapidly, if u press D slightly once, the lock will "bounce", so by rythmaticly tapping D u can bounce the lock, but if u bounce 2 hard, the lock pick breaks...

MEH, here, a vid i made demonstrateing https://youtu.be/1e9q-AXdNxE?si=d-GrPOW6TEC7yR2M

Try the mod 'Lock Pick Pro' on nexus.

I wouldn't say it's a complete myth, I don't use mods but you can hear it make a noise when you are close. I listen for it with master locks, just stay inside that noise it makes.
