need help getting khajiit caravans back to normal
so at the very start of my playthrough i ended up killing the khajit caravan outside of windhelm after i accidentally shouted at them and got into a fight. 100 hours later, im doing the quest "missing merchant" and need to interact with the leader of that very same caravan. I managed to resurrect him and his buddies and finish the quest but now theyre just standing in front of windhelm. I tried the recycleactor command but that was no use either. Any way I can get these guys back to normal and have them set up camp/travel along their route again?

P.S. I also casted reanimate corpse on one of them when i originally killed them, so one of their bodies was a pile of ash, if that information is helpful.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can really do. When a death occurs on named NPC's this is registered and baked into your save file. Using console commands will only generate a copy of the NPC, but they will usually be no longer part of the quest/merchant faction and, therefore, unusable.

Just move on with this character and treat it as a learned experience. Next time you trigger NPC's by accident that you don't want to kill, or take a few wacks on the Jarl you hate, reload a save.

Alas, there are no Wakestones or Phoenix Downs in the Elder Scrolls series. All deaths are final.

i can still complete the quest thankfully, the problem i have is that i would like them to get back into their regular routine. I managed to get one of them to sit down at the camp ( i dont know how) but i think its still possible. do you think there is any way at all i could just get them to be normal again?

They will never truly be the same even if you could get them to return to working around the camp. It's hard to say if they will ever get back to traveling. Honestly, entering more console commands to get them traveling is not really worth it.

You'd be better off just leaving it. You're putting your save at risk to being broken down later on down the line by messing with dead NPCs. The game doesn't treat named NPCs being brought back from the dead very well; they're supposed to remain in a special interior room outside of the normal bounds of the game to remain for the rest of the playthrough.

They are done and gone as far as the game and their actions are concerned - as others have already posted. See the following for definitive information regarding using the console and why it should not be used to bring back unique NPCs:

Player.placeatme and Resurrect
Two commands that should never be used on unique NPCs."

As a general rule, anytime there's a fight with multiple friendlies and enemies,, stay out of it or use a conjured entity. Except for a flame atronach that will sometimes hit friendlies with area effects and sometimes turns them against you.
The NPCs always move around faster than you can react and will get right in front of you.
Sometimes you can get a clear shot with a bow.
I learned that in Oblivion
