Skyrim Anniversary won't update from version 1.6.117
I just bought Anniversary Edition, but my skyrim is still on version 1.6.117. I verified the integrity and I also checked the option to keep the game always updated

The full version number of what you typed is 1.6.1170. You are currently up to date.

There is a 1.6.1179 patch, but that is only for the GOG version. It is otherwise identical to the 1170 Steam patch.

The latest is 1.6.640 acording to Steam. I can't use some mods which are made to later versions

The current game version is 1.6.1170. If your game is not updating from 1.6.640, make sure you don't have the app manifest file set to 'Read-Only' (appmanifest_489830). The file is located in:
\SteamLibrary\steamapps

Performing a File Verification will also update the game files to the current version.
From the Steam Library, right-click Skyrim SE > Properties > Installed Files > select "Verify Integrity of Game Files."

WARNING: this will impact your current mods if they are not updated potentially causing CTD's.

Sorry, I don't understand. How can version 1.6.1170 be newer than 1.6.640 if the number is lower? On Steam itself, the latest Skyrim's news is about update number 1.6.640.

[EDIT] Oh, now I see. The numer 1170 is greater than 640. That's why?

Correct. 1170>640

Yes, 1.6.1170 is the latest version! Just a few weeks ago there was a minor update to version 1.6.1170 (size about 132K). No worries if you keep your game updated.

Bethesda stopped updating the News section years ago. Thats why the latest mention of an update is from September of 2022. There have been updates since then.

That's odd. Well, thank you everyone!

Install the mod BEES and it should work fine.

hi, you mentioned appmanifest being set to read only, sorry if this is kind of outside this topic, but i was recently trying to learn from someone the other day in the FO4 forums how to prevent the next gen update for FO4 and this person suggested messing with these appmanifest things in that folder, but i have multiple of these appmanifest things, which one do i set to read only if i want to prevent the update at all costs?

this other person was pointing to a specific appmanifest that had a number, but i couldn't find the same number they are all random numbers and listed as appmanifest.

i just need to know which one i should set or do i set them all to read only to prevent the update, now with this said i already use the script extender and use Vortex to play my FO4 on, and normally that's been good enough, but some folks think that may not be enough to prevent the update fully.

The app manifest corresponds to a specific game that you have installed. The matching game and files for the requested games are:
Skyrim - appmanifest_489830.acf
Fallout 4* - appmanifest_377160.acf

*I performed an internet search for the phrase "steam app manifest for fallout 4."

thank you, this was very helpful. i was worried that i would get the update even though i keep my steam launcher offline and i also only launch my FO4 using the script extender via through Vortex, i hate that we have to make such strides, but it seems like some options are not as helpful as you once thought, hopefully i don't run into this issue.

i would rather only update on my own time and not when bethesda sends it out, so at least Borris has time to update the script extender and whatever other mods need updates, plus bethesda doesn't always have a good track record in updating their games and i don't want to be caught with my pants down when they ♥♥♥♥ my game into oblivion for months and months on end.
