So there's a new chest in embershard mine

Hey guys I started a new playthrough with the new "dlc" and I noticed a new chest at embershard mine next to the forge, it needs a key, I searched everywhere without much success for a key. I'm trying fishing now because sincerely I lost hope and a little bit of sanity too, so does anyone knows where the key is?

You could try using the console to unlock it if you really want to know.
Maybe it is the Embarshard key from the bandit?

unless its bugged the embershard key didnt work for me. No other keys on the bandits either, I figured it was quest related but dont know how to start the quest >.<

I noticed several others asking this same question in other forums. No answer in any of them yet.

I used the console (for Science of course) and there was just an iron boot and some gold, not the most entertaining of loots. None of the keys on the mine worked, so maybe there is a flag somewhere that allows the true loot to spawn, like the chests from the treasure maps, but until now I didn't have any luck

I think it is for the new orc plate quest that you pick up in Whiterun guard barracks.

Makes sense, it must have normal loot, but gets the armor when you start the quest.

I think it's either for a quest or the key can be found by fishing inside the mine. I'm still trying to get the tripod spiderfish.

Which I found out is in Blackreach, so I had to stop the fishing quest and do other quests to get more levels. So when I go to Blackreach, I can do the elder scroll and crimson plant quest at the same time.

The thing with these added quests, I would normally never go into the guards barracks in Whiterun. The one just inside the front gate right? I have only gone in there when I was a vampire (and its daytime) as there is one guard sitting just inside the door. Just beyond him is a door into a room with 2 beds and usually only one guard sleeping alone. So I go inside, close the door behind me and am free to feed.

It's like playing all over again the first time, or misremembering the past and doubting ones sanity in the process!

Just yesterday I was playing... Oblivion.. and came across the "note" and "note of bounty" easter eggs for the first time (I read they are actually encoded as objects with eeggs in the names..) and I'd played the original for far too many hours and never saw it. It is an 'unmarked' or 'secret' quest.

I was really shocked to find something new like that after so many years, and in this case--it was original content that I'd missed, but since I wasn't scouring the internet for anything about the game and was just playing to play it-- I had no idea it was there, and didn't see it my 2nd or 3rd playthroughs either...

Anyway it has made me rethink some of my exploring strategies. I don't expect to find a lot of differences like that, but I am being a little more observent in the dungeons and caves now, and have found that some decor actually is hiding objects in hard to reach places that you have to jump or otherwise try to reach via careful running and jumping like a mario game... and have found high powered leveled loot that otherwise I'd have missed!

I just caught this in Embershard

Thank you! I ended up finding one yesterday in the dungeon where you put the necklace together from the 3 sons, (forgotten legends quest). I dove down to the chest and one was down there.

ETA. Great job finding the key to the chest!
