That's interesting, i've heard both ways from people, some had to go through the club, and you two had it default.
This is what my game did as well so I guess it's all good to go.
To be fair, they don't actually need them as they really aren't used too much, this is one of the rare occasions that they're under actual pressure. T'would be a waste of money. Same with Steam and any other company that has servers.
I just started the game & there was a Thank You message with a download button.

Correct. They need you to register. The information on the Steam store page is incomplete. If you don't accept their user agreement, you cannot access their content. You're to accept the Creation Club agreement and give them your e-mail address, or you are being denied from accessing the Creation Club content.
