old version no DLC! WTF!
i bought this game years back but never really got past level 11 and never really bothered much, and wanted to replay it to then found out the DLC isnt available for older version because they made the special edition have all the DLC and stip the old one of the DLC and made it not visible in the shop anymore. is there a way to get the DLC without having to pay for the special edition. AGAIN?

It was possible to get the DLCs by a little bit "backdoor" but it seems that it got closed for now. The route was to go to the game page and click on DLC to have a list of DLCs you could buy. Maybe they have noticed people could acquire the old edition DLCs.

What you can do is to add this game to your wishlist and wait for a sale. Even at a -75% discount, you can get a Special Edition game with all DLCs offered at a price that matches the original DLC prices. There is almost no reason to play the old Skyrim from 2011 as this game here is far superior on various elements, not to mention the excellent mod support.

Or see if you can get DLC keys by third party sellers. There may be still some floating around.

The original version and DLCs were delisted at the request of Bethesda. If you still want them, look here -

I had a look at the link posted by @Nabinkemper, and it looks like the price for all three Oldrim DLC combined is almost the same as the price for Skyrim SE (which comes with all three DLC as default).

If your only incentive is not to pay for SE then you should not buy the DLC for Oldrim either.

i bought the DLC and the game so having to rebuy it because it got an upgraded edition IS NOT LEGAL

Do a web search for
original skyrm pc then click on 'shopping'
There are few listings of the Legendary version that has all dlc for lest than 10 bucks.
Don't buy used DVD versions b/c they already belong to another account.

Fanatical has SE for 9 bucks.

thats not my point. havent really played this game much in the past ( untill level 11 ) and i have only wanted to play NOW because i wanted to give ti a try again. this is just outright illegal to put DLC i payed for in another version dissapear and resell in an other edition.

also i just found out i could ask a refund on the hearthfire DLC depsite me having bought it in 2016

ah, I may have misunderstood the initial post. I was interpreting this part here differently;
then found out the DLC isnt available for older version because they made the special edition have all the DLC and stip the old one of the DLC and made it not visible in the shop anymore.
I was interpreting it as "want to buy a DLC for old Skyrim"...

If you have bought a DLC already, it should be provided to you, yes. You can manage your DLC by going into the game settings in the library. If you're in library, find back the game in the left list. Right mouse click there and then click on "properties". A small window will appear. If you select "DLC", you should find back your DLC there with a checkbox. If you want to have it in your game, ensure it is enabled.

so did i have to do that in the steam or game launcher i checked the hearthfire file in the skyrim launcher btu it said iwasnt subscribed.i also unchecked all the workhop files afetrwards. i also asked for a refund on the hearthfure dlc despite it beign baught in 2016 if that doesnt come trough ( wich i highly doubt) ill try this

and do workshop items ALSO cause the files missing message to pop up. i uncheck the 3 mods as well after the files missing message but i still got the message ( the DLC were checkmarked in steam)

The pricing has been frozen from when they were delisted in 2016.

You could wait for SE to go on sale.

Wrong, no matter what you think it is not illegal.

If you think you had purchased Hearthfire and it won't install with the game then something is bugged and your best option would be to contact Steam support. If you think Steam or Bethesda deleted Hearthfire from your library to force you to buy Special Edition then your best option would be to contact the Illuminati or the lizard overlords living in Antarctica.

No! the OP is complaining because he once owned the game, and bought the DLC, he doesn't say when he bought it.
He no longer owns the game, but apparently still owns the DLC, and seems to think that Steam have broken some law..... they haven't.

People can buy DLC for games they don't own, one reason is so they can gift it to others...
But even if they couldn't, there is no legal requirement for them to parent people who are supposed to be adults.... no moral requirement either....

Alex, the OP is referring to and owns Oldrim. They have a thread in the Oldrim forum as well.
