Steam Deck /w mods
Hey guys,
after quite some years, I wanted to come back to Skyrim. I want to use a few mods, though and I am not sure, which version of Skyrim I shall install.

The mods I plan to use are:
- Frostfall
- ineed
- Wet & Cold
- Climates of Tamriel
- incl. all required mods for these (like campfire)

Now my questions are:
I got 2 versions of Skyrim in my library. Which one shall I install?
1) Normal (1.13?) or SE?
2) Is it worth or even necessary for these mods to upgrade to the Anniversary Edition (I'd like to avoid it, if possible)?
3) Do I need Script Extender? It's in my library as well, but I can't remember, what it is good for....

Thanks for your help. Cheers!

Skyrim Special is better in general due to the upgraded memory which results in less crashes and overall better looking without the need for shaders. However, original has way more mods but some mods from normal can be ported over to Special.

If you have anniversary edition you're given the option at the main menu when booting up if you want to install all the mods it comes with. However, I'd say wait for it to go on sale 'cuz the mods they add aren't that big.

You will need script extender for stuff like frost fall and iNeeds yes. Check the mods requirement pages and it'll tell you what you need. Most mods that actually add in new mechanics will require script extender.

I'm playing on Skyrim Anniversary edition, which is basically just special edition honestly, and I downgraded my game so the 500+ mod collection pack I use would work. All these work on the current build I'm using (version 1.6.640) along with 500+ mods.
  • FrostFall
  • iNeed
  • Wet & Cold
I'm not on Steam deck though, however this collection I'm using stated to run on Steam deck at 30 - 45 fps. So I'm positive the 5 you want will be VERY easy to run on deck.

Thanks. That helps.
