Puzzle Ring Door Glitch URGENT HELP
HELP. That's 2 characters in a row, where upon getting to a Claw Door, whether its the first Golden Claw or some other one, NONE of the rings can be activated and the claw cannot be inserted. I have loaded previous saves, even left the dungeon and started a new character. I even uninstalled the game and installed it again and... Nothing. Might not seem like a big deal because you can use commands but I don't want to do that. So I beg for help. I just want a clean run :/

I really appreciate any input. I'm going to uninstall the game again and try to install it on my C Drive this time.

thats an odd glitch , ive never encountered a door+dragonkey not working in a decade of playing . do you have any mods that might be affecting it? or many mods at all? " skyrim together reborn " has been known to cause this glitch.

No mods :/ all I do is walk up to the door with the dragon claw, and the E Activate button does nothing for the rings or the "keyhole". It's not just Bleak Falls Barrow, I tried it on another puzzle door with the right dragon claw and also nothing.

of course uninstalling the game did nothing... but we forgive you, you are frustrated.

so when you tap the center ring where you'd put the claw, you don't get a popup saying you don't have the correct one? or it doesn't show the animation of trying the claw but failing and then shooting you with darts or whatever as an "oops wrong code" punishment?

if you can't turn the rings, (do you even get the overlay text that says to turn the rings?) you're likely using a mod that replaces something that the claw puzzle door sequence uses... being that textures and meshes are static, it's likely the script...

although, it could just be that havok is unhappy with you, you wouldn't happen to be running over 60fps without the proper fixes, would you? don't tap E, but spam it, press it on a ring a dozen times or more and see if it rotates...

I don't get a pop up or an animation, just the overlay of " E Activate ". Same with the rings, there is no text pop up, no animation.
There are no mods installed or being used. And Yes, I have spammed E, saved and loaded back in, left the dungeon and came back and even created a new character.
Idk about the fps count or what the "proper fixes" would be, but yeah :/
seems nobody else has ever had this.

if you go to Steam->Settings->In Game, there's a dropdown for "In-game FPS counter"... if it's not locked at 60, it can really mess up interacting with the world, picking up objects sometimes takes multiple presses, opening regular doors, etc... when it's really high, the game thinks you're moving way faster than you are, and you can get hurt or even die just bumping into something....

in the game, by default it's forced on, so it probably is, but you still have your AMD/NV control panel software where you can also force it if you need to.

Ah right I see, and my game is on 60fps give or take so I don't think it's that - thanks anyway.

Various updates have caused this issue with a number of people..... There doesn't seem to be a universal solution though, each one seems to a unique solution.

Yeah, just sucks cause none of the solutions work for me. I can just use commands to clip through but its still frustrating cause Id rather not do that.

re: fps, great, had to check, it's a thing. and now we know.

Is it every claw puzzle door, or have you gotten through other ones? You say "A claw door" so that leads me to think it's all of them, but just to clarify, is this like is this the first one, the golden claw? can you go to a different one and try, if you haven't?

one thing you can try when things in a dungeon go so wonky you can't proceed, is nuke the place with a 'killall' and then force a cell reset, I doubt it will work because the opening the door puzzle is a scripted event, but it's worth a shot. Basically load your save, kill everyone from the console, type 'pcb' (purge the cell buffer) and then leave. Go to the nearest place with a bed you can sleep on that's not in that area...

you need to shorten the time to reset them temporarily, so:

setgs iHoursToRespawnCell 1
setgs iHoursToRespawnCellCleared 1

now sleep for 2 or more hours.

this is going to reset a lot of things you already did, but they'll still be "cleared" on the overland map, even though they're actually not. if you go back, enemies galore. anyway, set those values back to their defaults:

setgs iHoursToRespawnCell 240
setgs iHoursToRespawnCellCleared 720

now go back to the puzzle door. since we're just testing if the claw door works, go ahead and do a 'tgm' (toggle god mode) so you can just waltz through traps and enemies...

but at a certain point, I mean this is a lot more than just 'tcl' and passing through the door, right? I understand you want it to work right, but we need someone to pop in who knows exactly why it's doing this...

there's also mods for this, there's a tiny one that auto-activates the Scripts/HallofStoriesKeyholeScript.psx (that's what that hallway before the puzzle is called, Hall of Stories) so if you have the right claw, all you do is click and it opens, no spinning the dials manually... might work in this scenario. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47329

Update: I deleted all the saves, reinstalled the game onto my C Drive and now it works :) I jumped out of my chair lol

/\ /\ I fixed it, but I will remember this if it should ever happen again.

that's so weird, these are user files not system files, location shouldn't matter in the least, even permissions should barely matter, as long as you have read access (it's not like game files are written to after installation, only your saves and maybe the .inis & plugins.txt if you're using the in-game menus)... if the game actually runs, that one script doesn't behave but 2316 other do, is just bonkers.

I hate troubleshooting crap like that! But hey you got it working! Still would love to know the why of it, but I've semi-successfully trained myself to let stuff go, if you're happy, I'm (sort-of) happy. :-)
pl_iro 2024 年 4 月 7 日 下午 3:33
I'm definitely happy. I hate having to resort to console commands for stuff.
