Help to set ownership
Hello. I am using a mod to deploy static items (like a grindstone) but some of the places i try to deploy don't work because I get a message "you down own that"

So if i want to place something like an enchanting table inside Jorrvasker or a grindstone in the archmage quarters, I can't use them.

Has anyone successfully done these things? and if so did you use the "setownership" console command?

Open the console, click on the item and use "setownership", or to be sure the player becomes the owner: "setownership 7" (without the double quotes of course).

yeah bummer, but those don't work, I think it has something to do with placing a totally new item.

A grindstone is not a static item, it's furniture. Setownership only works on items that the player can use or pickup (items not owned by the user or stolen).

What are you trying to use the command on?

I am using the mod below, to add some immersion to the game. It allows one to add almost anything to an area, as long as that area has open ownership. (example, I can add an enchanting table, an alchemy lab, a bed, a chair etc to Lunds hut, as lund's hut has no ownership limitations.) But If i try to do the same inside jorrvasker, it doesn't work, because I don't own the space. So I either need to chnage the ownership of the item, or the entire space.

Like what good is it to lead the companions if I can't make a potion. (I can BTW add the stations outside, but... I wan to add them inside.)

I am sorry, but the game and the mod have their limitations! The player, as Harbinger, doesn't become owner of Jorrvaskr, it's owned by the faction.

you don't need any mod for this, and you're clearly doing it wrong, and besides setownership is not part of it. you don't need to own it, any table can be used by anyone, it's not a bed...

just go stand where you want it, and 'player.placeatme bad0d' and up pops an enchanter, then position it by first tagging it and reading the current values with 'getpos x' getpos y' 'getpos z' and adjust accordingly with 'setpos <axis> <how much offset added/subtracted>" then do the same with 'getangle <axis>' and subsequently 'setangle' <axis> <degree_offset_from_original>...

bad0c is alchemy lab and 6e9c2 is a grindstone, and you can find the rest yourself.

wow, clearly doing it wrong.... Well I have used the mod successfully all over the place, and only have an issue at 2 places (Jorrvasker and the arch mage quarters at the college.) where deploying a crafting station doesn't seem to work, because I get a you don't down own that message. Hence the request for help!

argh, children should LISTEN when they wish to gain knowledge and shut the top fart box...

I could not care less about your dumb mod, that you need a mod shows me I need to obviously talk slowly :-) What I mean is, do you know how the mod works? have you ever opened the mod in CK or xEdit or read a single source papyrus for it to investigate why? no probably not, you're a mod user not a mod creator.

So, what, do you think that mod is doing, exactly?! it is magic? No it's automating existing engine function calls for you...

What I told you does not depend on any anything, it's just a couple of simple basic engine commands everyone should know. It works the same way your mod works. And you can put stuff anywhere, literally anywhere, you want to 'tcl' and fly 10k meters to the top of merida's beacon summons and put a workbench up there in the sky so you can hammer on some armor while you talk to the daedra? go ahead.

If you wan to to know why the mod doesn't work in archmage's quarters nor jorraskr, investigate inside the mod or just ask the person that made it, but if you just want the stupid workstations and grindstones and move on with your game then do what I told you, because what I told you works A N Y W H E R E.
