What is the error message?
What is your game's version?
What is the SKSE version?
What is the version of the address library?
Did you download the mod through Vortex?
Did you install and enable the mod in Vortex after the download?
Are you starting the game through SKSE?
...

Address Library doesn't work on its own. It is used by SKSE DLL plugins. It needs to be compatible with a specific game version and a specific SKSE version. Just answer sdack's questions and you may receive a solution to the issue.

For anyone reading this post, always include versions of the game and the mods concerned. SE or AE is not enough as for game versions as it doesn't mean anything. Possible game versions: 1.5.97, 1.6.640, 1.6.1130 or 1.6.1170 for example.

'DLL plugins you have installed require a new version of the address library. Either this is a new install, or skyrim was just updated.' i have installed the most recent version of address library on vortex, and i am starting the game with the skse launcher

One or more of your mods with a DLL plugin doesn't match with the address library and SKSE version you are using.

the only mod that uses a dll plugin is the address library itself

Then remove it along with SKSE and you're good to go.
If there are no mods that use a DLL plugin, there is no need to use both.

What about the SKSE version? Did you update SKSE to its latest version, too?

It's the other way round. SKSE DLL plugins use the Address Library. The DLL uses the Address Library to find the proper offset address of certain functions/procedures it needs in SkyrimSE.exe. This may vary among different versions of the game engine.

Not what you should try, but what you should do! If you're on SSE 1.6.1170 and always with Steam in online mode, you may have missed a small 132K update for this version. It requires Address Library's versionlib-1-6-1170-0-1.bin in your Data/SKSE/Plugins folder. Your SKSE64 version should be up to date (version 2.2.6). Any SKSE DLL plugin should be up to date. If you're using SSE Engine Fixes, there need to be made some changes in the EngineFixed.toml file in the Data folder I mentioned earlier. If you are using FISS, you need a patch. ok, so i updated skse64 and its not showing the previous error message when i load the game, but mods requiring address library will not work
Altbert Apr 1, 2024 @ 3:28pm
That could mean Address Library is not updated to its latest version or some SKSE DLL plugins are incompatible or are not updated. See the SKSE Plugin Status in the guide.
