Best "Glitch-free-as-much-as-possible" follower overhaul mod in 2020?
I'm looking for a follower overhaul mod and there are 4 options here for Skyrim SE.
And I probably don't want to bother reinstalling all the mods I have if my save or game breaks, so i'd like to stick with most stable one.

UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul SE

Amazing Follower Tweaks SE

EFF - Extensible Follower Framework

Nether's Follower Framework

In your opinion: Which one is most glitch free in 2020?
I don't mind compromising some of the features. Core features I'm after is follower limit increase and equipment change.
Let me know which one is your favorite.

Much thanks, gamers.

Since Skyrim SE doesn't allow achievements to unlock with mods i've had to get around some of the games annoying elements using console commands (which ironically don't block achievements)

A good bulk of Follower stuff can easily be changed with console commands.
Can change their base armours and stop them from re-equipping the old stuff.
Can make any NPC into a follower.
Can alter their stats and abilities.

Pretty much everything aside from their AI I think can be altered with console if you know the right commands.

I've been upgrading some of the games NPC's as I play though my current game.
Give Mjoll a set of Steel Plate and got rid of her crappy Iron armour.

Married Sylgja, changed her clothes, upgraded her level, give her more HP, better stats, some magic spells, set her as essential and made her into a follower so she can come on adventures with me.

I plan on doing this with other NPC/Followers too.

Some of the codes im using.
Make sure NPC is clicked (their id numbers show in console when active)

Inv
(shows npc's inventory)

additem (item code) 1
Add's item to NPC based on the code, the 1 after is the amount of items you want to add.

Example: additem 000D191F 1
Add's Tavern Clothes to NPC's inventory.

removeitem (item code) 1
Removes item from NPC based on the code, again 1 after is the amount of items you want removed.
(Try to leave at least 1 piece of original clothing/equipped item on the NPC to avoid default equipment respawning)

equipitem (item code) 1
Force equip specified item with that code, the 1 after sets that item to No Unequip!
If you don't have the 1 after the code the NPC will either change back to their default clothing or armour or they will end up walking about naked all the time if you removed it.

addfac 4
Makes any NPC into a follower, number must be 4 for this to work.
I've only done this with Sylgja so far and had no issues with it.

Addspell (spell code)
Gives NPC a specified magic spell.

Example: addspell 000B62EF
Gives NPC Close Wounds spell.

removespell (spell code)
Removes a spell from NPC.

getav (Stat of choice)
Shows the NPC's skill level with specific stat

Example 1: getav health
(Shows NPC's current max health.)
Example 2: getav lightarmor
(Shows NPC's light armor skill level.)

setav (stat of choice) (Insert number)
Changes NPC's stat of choice to whatever you want it to be

Example 1: setav Magicka 500
(Sets NPC's Magicka to 500)
Example 2: setav onehanded 100
(Sets NPC's One Handed skill to 100)

Setlevel (insert level number)

Warning! Changing a NPC's level after modifying their stats will reset them so change NPC's level before doing any stat mods.
Also make sure you know the NPC's max level and set it equal to or above it so it does not reset when you level up and reset all their stats too.
You can also modify the NPC's level multipliers as well, have them go beyond their max level normally and maintain equal level to you if you wish but that's more complicated.
If you're interested in that you can learn how here.
https://skyrimcommands.com/command/setlevel

Lastly, don't have the NPC clicked for this one.

setessential (NPC's code) 1
Makes specified NPC unkillable, 1 must be added to the end to make this work and the NPC's code must be typed in as well.

Learning these few commands you can pretty much make any NPC into a follower and redesign them any way you want too.
Make Mjoll prefer One Handed weapons.
Make Aela Prefer Light Armour.
Make Farkas a Mage.
Turn any Marriage Candidate into a capable Follower
Turn Sven into an unkillable God that spams Master level Destruction Spells :D

It's up to you how you want to custom the games NPC's to yourself, and since these are not mods they won't disable achievements nor will they carry over to other save files.

Just don't go breaking game values like making a NPC a ridiculous level or giving them 10,000 One Handed skill or something insane like that, you'll probably crash your game if you go too nuts xD
Personally I prefer not to go over 100 with any skills just to be safe, levels are a bit more flexable but there is a hard cap that will crash the game if you try and push past it so you've been warned there.
Health, Magicka and Stamina you can set to your liking, though these upgrade with the NPC's level as well so for the most part you probably won't need to change these unless you're after something specific like someone more proficient in magic.

The main concern with editing base equipment is that NPC's will often re-equip their old set or end up naked.
As said in the equipitem section, adding a space and 1 to the end of the command forces a no-unequip rule to happen.

I have Sylgja wearing Tavern Clothing in my current game and I have travelled around the world and quit out of the game many times since I give her those clothes.
I also removed her miners clothing but kept her original boots.
I can confirm that since I added the 1 to the end of command to make her wear the Tavern Clothes she has never respawned her Miner clothing nor has she removed the Tavern clothes and walked about naked.

Since Skyrim SE doesn't allow achievements to unlock with mods...
SSE Engine Fixes: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17230

Aye I know there are mods to get around this, though the ones i've seen are not perfect.. achievement popups don't appear on some of them and others require SKSE which I personally do not want to use.

I do have a bunch of mods downloaded for Skyrim SE already and even more for the original game.
But I figured i'd go Mod-less for my first run of SE and get the achievements as I play just for fun.
Learning more tricks with the console commands has been a benefit of this decision too :)
