Missing DLL's?
I just recently did a clean install of Windows 11, as an automatic upgrade from Windows 10 wasn't working for some reason. After reinstalling a bunch of software including Skyrim, Vortex, and a bunch of mods which included, of course, SKSE I just tried to run the program. I was greeted by a pair of error messages, talking about missing DLL files. One is XINPUT1_3.dll, and the other is X3DAudio1_7.dll. Can anyone help as to what this means, and how to fix it?

go to the steam game folder then the _CommonRedist folder
folder shows game needs DirectX jun 2010 and vcredist 2015
either download from MS or go to folder
...\steam\steamapps\common\steamworks shared\_commonredist

install DirectX dxsetup.exe and vcredist 2015 .exes with admin permission

game installer "is supposed to" do this but sometimes does not maybe because of permission issues. I believe the xinput1_3.dll and x3daudio1_7.dll are from the directx. game might have crashed before checking for vcredist2015 dlls so you are in the same install folder might as well install both.

I also posted this in Old Farts Coffee House. They say I needed to install the older DirectX runtime that works with older games like Skyrim, which they linked for me, and I've installed that. The only other question I have is the other dll, the dinput? That has to do with controllers I guess. Does that go in the Skyrim folder?

directx setup should install both files where they belong

Now if I could just figure why I am getting Steam cloud errors. It doesn't want to sync.

I don't know how to make sense of all the data that is in the cloud.txt file, but what I do is there's an awful lot of "upload failure" lines. It seems to only have a problem syncing on exit. I mean, that's when I am getting the cloud error message. I am using a VPN; could that be the issue? Maybe the server I'm using is the issue, and not the VPN itself. I've been using the VPN for 4 years, and haven't had any problems with the cloud until now, if that is the reason.

hopefully someone else who uses the steam cloud and a vpn would know.
the coffee house might be a good place to post

one possibility is the issue is temporary and only that server has a problem.
might work tomorrow.

or contact steam support.

You should not use Steam Cloud for saves - it is plagued with issues and has caused innumerable problems for those who try and use it. It should be disabled. To disable Steam Cloud, go to the extreme upper left of the screen, click on Steam, then, from the drop-down menu, click on Settings. In the box which appears, on the left hand side, you will see an option for Cloud. Click on that and then disable Steam Cloud (the button should be moved to the left for it to be disabled).

Thank you for that advice, it has been disabled
