What is the most fun build you ever played?
I had a lot of fun with heavy armor + magic build. But my game is modded of course. What types of build you do in general and which ones are you had a lot of fun? Modded or unmodded doesn't matter. I'm looking for something different to try.

Right now I'm playing a one-handed/Destruction hybrid in light armour using Ordinator perk overhaul. Lots of fun.
I love the block skill. Running, shield raised, towards enemies and ragdoll-ing them is very satisfying (even more so near a cliff!).

Oi, that's a tough one, hard to pick between these 3 builds, so i'll list them in no order whatsoever.
-Full conjuration build: All damage i do must come from conjuration, so summoning assistance or conjuring weapons. No alchemy, no smithing, no enchanting, follower is allowed though. Getting specific equipment is really important, leveling up skill trees even more. In the end you deal good damage, have max armor, bunch of high resistances and progress means something.

- Death Knight: Heavy Armor, 2H handed, no bow, destruction magic and necromancy. Pretty much using the complete opposite of the meta stuff, it worked out fantastic.

-Level 1 Punch Cat: Legendary difficulty, no skill level ups, that's it. Get the stuff you can use, use some exploits left and right, enjoy.

I always go one handed + shield or full destruction build. I never tried one handed + destruction hybrid. Maybe I should give it a try someday

I love using shields as well! Blocking is a very satisfying mechanic and shields looks cool as hell

Putting your own rules is a fun way to play the game. I did full heavy armor + 2H only too and it was awesome ( it kinda sucked at the beginning but the late game was very satisfying) Also I have to try unarmed build. I rarely play Khajit and I usually go for Argonian or Altmer but I think I have to give it a try someday.

There was one character I really had a lot of fun with on a previous playthrough. I don't really have a name for the build, but the concept is basically an anti-vampire/reverse vampire. The details are as follows.

Race: Breton

Class/build: Spellsword

Gear: Dawnfang/Duskfang, Silver Armor, Silver Sword

Spells: Detect Dead, Choking Grasp, Strangulation, Hangman's Noose, Touch of Death, Mara's Wrath, Any of the Cloak Spells, Stendarr's Aura, Sun Fire, Vampire's Bane, Self-healing spells.

Backstory: Their family was killed by vampires so they vowed to replicate a vampires powers through non-daedric means and hunt as many of them as possible.

Dawnfang deals fire damage and absorbs health after you kill enough foes, so during the day, you use the four health draining spells (Choking Grasp, Strangulation, Hangman's Noose, Touch of Death) combined with Dawnfang to turn into a nearly unkillable monster that regens health like mad.
At night, Duskfang deals frost damage and absorbs Magicka after killing enough foes. So, during times without sun, you use the power of Duskfang to fuel Cloak Spells and restoration magic to wreak havoc on the undead and damage anything that dares to draw near.

Sword and Board Breton. Atronach and maxxed out Magic Resistance perks from the Alteration tree and maxxed out Recovery perk from Restoration. Full stealth, a variety of spells. Light armor. Running the Atronach Stone.

Walk straight through dragon's breath, stab em in the eye, shield slam if they go to bite, win.

Stealth mage assassin. I carried a dagger but only used it if I got attacked by a critter. My marks met their demise via Animal Allegiance, Marked For Death and rune spells. They never even knew what hit them.

If you use a pet or follower, you can do one more fun trick.

When you are in a dungeon or tunnel/corridor, then shield block and shield bash the enemy pinning them against the wall, staggering them continously. Meanwhile your pet or follower can attack them with weapons or spells, and kill them. This way, neither you nor your team gets hurt.

Addons to improve the shield bash trick:
1. Shield of Stamina - Blocking Redux[www.nexusmods.com] mod: SKSE plugin fixing the stupid vanilla blocking mechanism. Blocking now costs stamina only.
2. If you want to play more with a shield for combat, you may want to use the useful Auto Unequip Shield to Back for Skyrim SE - Backshields SE[www.nexusmods.com] mod. It does what it says on the tin, no issues, and coexists with Simple Dual Sheathe[www.nexusmods.com].
3. If you want to hide the shield when it's sheathed, try a mod like: Lazy Item Hider - Toggle helm weapons and more[www.nexusmods.com].
4. Ghosu Spellbreaker Perk[www.nexusmods.com] mod: Perk that allows the Ward effect of Spellbreaker Shield (vanilla game shield) for any equipped Shield. Now your shield can protect against both physical and magical attacks!
5. Make sure to get Spellbreaker Spell Reflection and Ward Visuals Restored[www.nexusmods.com] that restores the spell reflection mechanic to SpellBreaker shield and also restores it's ward visuals and sound.
6. Imbued Weapons SE[www.nexusmods.com]Adds a toggleable constant effect spell that adds a Bloodskal Blade effect to any melee weapon, one-handed or two. (Now with critical hits, and seems to work for shield bashes too!)
7. Vanilla game has Auriel's Shield[en.uesp.net]: After 5 successful blocks, the shield will start glowing and a shockwave can be released by power bashing, which becomes stronger with each 5 blocked attacks. After 15 blocked attacks, the shield is fully charged and the shockwave is similar to the effect of the Unrelenting Force shout.
8. Selene Kate Follower or Serana Replacer SSE - MCM[www.nexusmods.com] weilds a customized Auriel's Shield and Aurablade (Imbued Weapon mod's ranged attack that triggers on shield bashes and power attacks)
9. Guardian Shield - God of War] and [url]its animated version[www.nexusmods.com] are perfect beautiful shields for a battlemage or witcher character roleplay.

Why not do both?
What if you could use 1h spell as destruction magic, or protection magic (like a shield)?
Yeah, they are called wards. But now one mod can make them do so much more!

Ward Functionalities Extended[www.nexusmods.com] allows magical wards to:
* protect against melee attacks,
* protect against ranged attacks (including arrows & bolts),
* rely on Blocking skill (not armor) for blocking damage reduction,
* absorb magicka from magical attacks properly
* Blocking with ward will cost you Stamina (as well as the usual ward Magicka cost) and earn you both Restoration an Block experience.
* Adds missing expert and master level wards, including Reflective and Surround wards
* "Reflective Master Ward" is a Master level ward spell. It is casted like other wards but is more expensive and more powerfull. Spells that hit this ward are reflected and send back to the caster or aimed with the crosshair, (MCM option), shouts can also be reflected (MCM option).
* "Surrounding Master Ward" is a a Master level ward spell. Contrary to its predecessors, it's a "fire and forget" spell which means you don't have to maintain your focus to keep the ward up. "Master Ward" casts a protecting barrier all around you, granting you immunity to spells and protection from weapons as long as your ward is not broken, for a maximum of 90 seconds. (This is similar to Quen sign in Witcher games.)

Like the fist guy in the Riften Sewers; Ragged Robes and fists only.

Did it long ago on LE. Made a welcome break from the stealth ninja with a dagger.

With a few mods that would probably be quite a fun playstyle to try again..

With using the Ordinator perk overhaul mod, I'm having a lot of fun with a mage build that primarily uses Lockpicking and Illusion magic, with a splash of destruction for things like dragons.

The bear trap related lockpicking skills Ordinator adds are potent enough to have fun and be effective with very few traditional combat skills. Then add in Frenzy, Fear, and Calm from the illusion spells and it gets a bit silly once established, fear in particular. I've also been supplementing the bear traps with the rune spells while leveling and its been one of the more unique playthroughs I have had.

Otherwise, I usually just end up using heavy armor, and a weapon. 1h is a bit more common as I like using more support like spells in the offhand, but that does get old after a bit. The Ordinator mod definitely adds in enough things to make some of the lesser used skill trees much more attractive for me.

It's actually a fun build! Once I did a argonian playthrough and I wrote my backstory like you did. My character was a thief in a bruma and I also killed bunch of people aswell and my character had to move skyrim because of their crimes lol.

I have that mod actually! I always forget wards spells exist in the game and they are actually pretty useful against dragons. Especially if you are using any dragon combat overhaul mods, I think they become much useful than before. Thanks for reminding me I always forget they exist lol. I also actually used bunch of spell mods for killing undead much more easily. Maybe I should also try a paladin build or something

There is actually a lot of good looking dagger mods in the nexusmods. I find melee stealth build more engaging and fun than stealth archer builds...

I usually ignore lockpicking skill tree and I use ordinator too. I didn't know bear trap skills existed. I love this idea! I think I have to leave my comfort zone and try very different builds. I always do the same kind of builds even with mods lol

I meant the fist build, but you are right. Dagger builds are much more challenging at first than sneak archer.
By the end of the game though, dagger build is completely broken. (30X damage with cicero's gloves) which can kill pretty much anything.

Sometimes it is fun to think outside the box and trust your racemenu sliders and use them like your about to loose them.

Alteration-Destruction/Conjuration has proven to be fairly entertaining. Paralyzed enemies being double teamed by summoned monsters/undead then finished off with a master level destruction spell is not necessary to win but the option to be able to create that scenario is an essential part of the series, dumbed down though it may be.
