What's with these crazy mods I'm seeing?
I haven't played in forever and have mostly forgotten how to mod but I'm seeing some insane mods that don't just change how everything and everyone looks, but even changes the very foundations of the game. I'm talking attacks, dodging mechanics, etc. It doesn't even look like Skyrim anymore but more like something out of Dark Souls. What's the deal?

you are looking at mods that change the way the game works..... the answer is in the question.

people use mods like this, i personally don't but others do.

You only have 350 hours in Skyrim. Others have several thousand (someone you may see around is FauxFurry, with over 5400 hours; another is SpeedFreak, with over 6700 hours), and want something different, but not too different. So those people may mod Skyrim to work differently. Or some may just not like how simply Skyrim combat is, or whatever.

Dark souls fanboys exist, what else to say

I mean mods boil down to your game your way ... I might not like it, but it's your game if it makes you happy

There are so many that it would be difficult to know where to start but I will select an arbitrary point to proceed from.
Modern Combat Overhaul is one of the mod frameworks which alters the combat of Skyrim to more closely resemble a 'Soulslike' but that has been superseded by BFCO Attack Behavior Framework.
Both require sub-mods such as Elden Rim, Ultimate Dodge Mod and Wildcat to achieve their maximum effect.

I just hit 900 hours, a few days ago, myself and am still putting time in.

Heck, I doubt that I'll ever want to stop playing Skyrim, at least not until another Elder Scrolls releases and the modding scene grows with the next game. Of course, that in itself will depend on Bethesda.

it's all about how someone wants to play.

I prefer 3rd person gameplay these days, so im happy than mods like True Directional Movement exist. Others want a more action packed fight, so they may pick the mods FauxFurry suggested, or others like them.
