Nolvus or other mod lists
I've seen many videos on YT about Nolvus mod list. The changes are impressive but how does it work? Can I choose to not install some of the mods? Some of the combat or gameplay changes are quite drastic. I have never used a modlist before.
I actually prefer only graphic improvement mods and quality of life changes but leave mostly intact the fundamental gameplay mechanics. Or someone more experienced in modding scene has any other mod lists that fit what I'm looking for or where can I find them? I only know Nexus Mods Collections.

No, just as with any modlist, it's supposed to be installed as is. You can't cherrypick, that's what manual modding is there for. Among modpacks, Nolvus is the biggest of them all, it's almost a total overhaul. There's a light version, though, but it's still gigantic.

Yes, that's where most modlists are.

This community has repeatedly failed in walking inexperienced users through the process of altering modpacks because many of them include tool output files and/or custom patches that we can't analyze via a forum thread.

A example of this may be seen in the thread linked below. The user wanted to get rid of a slooty clothing mod from the Nexus Immersive and Adult collection. The collection includes several custom files. If an experienced modder had this downloaded and installed, they could probably figure out fairly easily what to do, but without having it installed, any recommendations we made could have resulted in crash-causing mesh errors or weird body physics malfunctions. At which point the user would probably have needed to purge and reinstall the entire list (or even reinstall their game if they did something especially bizarre, which we've also seen from time to time).

Our standard advice is to not alter modpacks unless you personally are a good modder or unless you get help directly from the author of the modpack.

edit: another source for modpacks is the Wabbajack installer system based around MO2.

Any experienced player knew that such stuff is pointless right from the beginning, so don't speak about the entire community.

Basically, if you have the know-how to alter a modpack, then you certainly can install the mods by yourself, which is preferable.

Main problem for me personally is that any modlist is the personal preference of the modlist creator. I prefer to create my own mod build, which probably saves me more time than trying to alter a modlist to my preferences. If you're happy with the full contents of a modlist, go for it. If not, you're probably better off creating your own mod build.

I've already seen this post many times. Are you being payed by the Nolvus team? Install Nolvus? Never! If it's the best? No idea, I create my own! Just cut this advertising!

Judging from his last 20 posts, it seems to be a paid shill. Reported him just to be sure, it could be a hijacked account as well.

Some rando on the internet? Not the best. My mod pack is the best, but I'm not making it available to anyone else.

Same. I don’t download other peoples lists because quite often my tastes are different than theirs. And I wanna play a game that I like, not what they like. All the same, mod lists can be great starting points for novice mod users.

Follow this guide, it will give you a stable vanilla base from which to mod as well as QOL improvements and bugfixes, mod installation instructions. Etc. From there you can mod skyrim to your hearts content. I personally turn mine into a realistic sim but to each their own which is why all inclusive modlists and wabbajack are meh in my opinion.

Thanks, but I will stick to my own mod building. Done so for some 12 years with Skyrim and even more with Morrowind and Oblivion. But, I agree on no modlists.

As others have stated, if you only prefer quality of life and graphical improvements as well as maybe some combat improvements, create your own mod list.

The amount of mods for Skyrim with incompatibility issues can be a headache in trying to solve. Do not let this discourage you from trying out other peoples mods list.

Also with mods authors that have moved on to other things can also hinder your progress in what your trying to accomplish.

Overall it's a give n take scenario, with perseverance I'm sure you will accomplish in what your looking for.

Also if you wanted to use Nolvus and are not a premium user on nexus, and why would someone want to subscribe to that site anyways, it will take you well over a week to download the full 2000+ mods.
