The biggest flaw in Skyrim

Still to this day there is no way of skipping the intro of the game and the entirety of Helgen. We got two updates with only a few month difference and still not a change on the most annoying part of the game.

I tried getting mods on them but they do all this unnecessary ♥♥♥♥ like give you starting equipment, spells, what's with all this nonsense. I just want a simple way to skip the intro, either choose between the imperial or stormcloak guys THAT'S IT. Everything else keeps me from starting the main quest. They either skip over the main quest all the way to meeting the Greybeards or it doesn't even exist.

I'm going to try Express Helgen, it still has to make you choose your starting gear and birthsign but I have high hopes this isn't going to throw the game off too much from the start. And yes I tried Alternate Start but the Unofficial Patch is required to run it which screws up parts of the game I like.

It seems Helgen Express is the best intro skipping mod while keeping a vanilla approach to Skyrim. I suggest using this if you don't want to start with a jumble of stuff. The only part of it still tries to make you start off is with a birthsign but you can start with none which is the default.

I still like Live another Life due to its options and the gear it starts you off with is dependent on your path.


Although if you want nothing you could simply drop the starting gear and walk to Helgan naked.

There are other alternate start mods, at least one of them is quite good.
Yes ES introduction sequences are terrible, only Morrowind got it right

If you mean Alternative Start - Live another Life that was my default mod for skipping and I did like it but it required unofficial patch which I didn't like. Even if you save after skipipng and then disabled the mods the effects that unofficial patch put on the game still persist.

Although I like the Unoffical Patch there used to be mods to roll back the more ... contentious changes.

Then there is always the xEdit approach... 🤷‍♀️

the simple way if you want to keep all the intro but the wagon slowpoke bit, is just open the console and change the Set Global Time Multiplier.... you'll not be on a slow wagon to your execution, you'll be in a chariot race to death! Don't go crazy though, you can't finish your character creation if you do, 3x or 4x normal speed is already ludicrously fast, and don't forget to slow it down again once you get your freedom as you'll mis-time everything from jumps to avoiding dragon breath to just opening doors. You're quite delicate at lvl 1.

sgtm = skyrim on bloody nose bathtub meth... 1.0 is standard time, 0.5 would be half speed, 2.0, 3.0, you get the idea...

Yea mods like lal (live another Life) or Skyrim unbound, etc (there are mor mods out there that do the same) do the trick just fine so where is that flaw of yours?

Hilarious but I know that well. I remember when a butterfly or a bee alone can throw your wagon off it's path.

What would be cool if they decided to make 3 different new intros for your character. One not making you Dragonborn. Or maybe an expansion that let's you start at the Nerevarine from Morrowind. One of his powers was being immortal so would still be lore friendly.

Don't count on Bethesda only thing what to expect is more creation club stuff .... for the main part they've moved on to Starfield and the next Elder scrolls

That isn't a flaw, boring perhaps but other games also require you to do the intro stage, and some of them are among the greatest games of the last decade....
