Issue installing mods

so decided to start playing Skyrim again and I am redownloaded all my mods but when I try to install any mod it comes with an error message "Archived Damaged"

"Encountered errors extracting this archive. Please verify this file was downloaded correctly", ERROR: Cannot create output directory: access denied"

I am using vortex aswell

probably something simple but its been a while since I started playing again lol

To be honest this sounds more like a disk going out ... any other problems? First check if the maps are read only secondly run a health check of the drive in question

I Tried running vortex in administrator mode and it works fine now... funny should I continue running it in administrator or is it not safe to do so?

Sounds like you installed the game to Program Files and windows is blocking permissions.

Make a new folder called C:/Games/Steam and then copy the entire Skyrim folder to there and then add the folder in your steam list of directories to check for installed games

Nope. Simply copying stuff out of the Program folder will carry over the ownership/restrictions issues. You need to check those carefully, or just reinstall Skyrim.

ive reinstalled skyrim outside of program files and Im still getting this error....

and its doing this for every mod not just for this specific mod. But when I run in administrator mode it lets me install it.

Sounds like your not the admin of the computer.

Try going to Windows Security / Firewall and Network Protection / Allow an App through firewall.

Use the search function and add SkyrimSE.exe and if you use SKSE add skse64_loader.exe

Once that is done go to Skyrim folder and right click on Skyrim.exe and select Run as Administrator.

you should be good after that.
