New to AE, no saves or mods loading
Hi All,
I just got the Skyrim Anniversary Edition today, and I fired it up and it shows me the CC, but none of my mods are loading from Steam and no previous saves are available. What am I doing wrong?

As to mods from Steam Workshop, it is not because they are old, it is because they are made for the 32bit version of the game, whereas Special Edition is 64bit. They are two totally separate and distinct games.

As to your save, purely vanilla might be usable, but it is strongly suggested that you just start a new game. Also, achievements will not carry over, as again, they are two different games.

Most of this should be covered in what I linked, but if you are unsure of something, just ask - better to ask and be sure, than not ask and misunderstand something and make a mistake!

Again, good luck!

Most likely you didn't launch the game properly. What are you using to mod the game?

Did you buy the paid AE upgrade? If so, you need to go ingame and in the main menu is an option called Creations. That's where you have to download the additional CC content. You have to log into Bethesda's download site. If not, and you mean Nexus mods, you may need to install SSE Engine Fixes with its requirements.

All my mods are through Steam

Yes, I bought that one. I can open up the CC, but you think there's a way to get my Steam mods from there?

There are no SSE mods on Steam. If you are using mods gotten from the Steam Workshop, those are for original Skyim (Oldrim, as it is often referred to), and often, they will not work on Special Edition unless they are adapted to do so. Nexus is the most often used place to get mods:

Thanks a ton! Just so I understand, since all of my mods from Steam are old they won't work on the Anniversary Edition I got this upgrade and I think it included SE? I'll read those links tonight :)

And my saves don't come over from Oldrim either? which is fine I was starting new anyway. I'll have to get all my mods from Nexus from now on to mod AE (apart from CC mods)?

Thanks! That bit about the SE vs AE difference helped right there. I read through some of the links already and will keep reading. I just see videos about modding with Nexus and they seem waaaay more complicated than modding was with Steam, so I'm sad but at least now I know. This video here is one I watched about modding SSE, I'll keep reading the links you sent and maybe it will be easier than I think. Thanks again :)

The best guides for modding Skyrim SE are written by Vlad 254 - there is a link to a list of all his guides in the discussion link I posted.

As for Youtube vids, the ones to watch are by GamerPoets or Gopher - links are in the following section of Helpful Links and References:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2882866141
under the "Video Tutorials for SSE" sub-section

Vids by other Youtube creators may be hit or miss, and there are many that give just plain wrong information - the ones linked in Helpful Links and References are the best ones to use.

And, again - if you have any questions, just ask.
