The version number of the game can be found in the main menu, or right-click on SkyrimSE.exe and open the tab "Details".
AE is 1.6.1170 and SE is 1.5.97
I can even have SE on 1.6.1170 if I did my updates but never bought AE.
Anniversiray Edition (AE) is just Special Edition (SE) with a Creation Club DLC!
@Poet
You may want to take a look at this page: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Special_Edition_Patch
Right, 1.6.1170.
So, which version will you get when you buy AE today?
Right, 1.6.1170.
Heck, Enderal SE is the only one that still uses 1.5.97.
Repeating yourself won't make you correct. There is no edition of the game called the Anniversary Edition. The only thing called the Anniversary Edition is the bundle that gives you the Special Edition and the Anniversary Upgrade.
The mod authors saying otherwise are wrong.
Repeating yourself won't make you correct.
Please move on.
