Version confusion
Can someone please tell me what the latest version numbers are for SE and AE? Or point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Ae is just a pack of mods. The game is the same (Skyrim SE). 1.6.1170

The game is still Skyrim Special Edition. AE only refers to the Creation Club content (DLC). Just have a look in your main game folder, and you will see SkyrimSE.exe. SE or AE is not important, the version of the game is important. Every 1.6.x version is referred to by many as AE, which is pretty confusing. What really matters is the version number of the game!

The version number of the game can be found in the main menu, or right-click on SkyrimSE.exe and open the tab "Details".

That represents common jagon on nexus but is the source of all confusion. AE is an expension of SE and the versions are related to the binary files.

whats confusing is watching people do this whole AE is SE mingle. Keep it simple.

AE is 1.6.1170 and SE is 1.5.97

It is simple. AE is an expension. If you mod, you need to know if you have the expension and which version of binaries you are running. There is more then just 1.6.1170 and 1.5.97.
I can even have SE on 1.6.1170 if I did my updates but never bought AE.

Happy hunting for a proper mod update for AE, especially when you are using SKSE DLL plugins. These are in most cases version dependent. AE is referred to as 1.6.x, which includes 1.6.323, 1.6.342, 1.6.353, 1.6.629, 1.6.640, 1.6.1130 and 1.6.1170. Oh, and there are also the various GOG versions. Do not rely on AE or SE in the mod's descriptions, but check the version number of your game.

Anniversiray Edition (AE) is just Special Edition (SE) with a Creation Club DLC!

Well most mods that use skse and have different versions will refer to them as AE and SE. So please stop confusing people and keep it simple. AE 1.6 SE 1.5.97

There is nothing simple about this! Check your game's version for compatibility and do not only rely on SE/AE! Nothing confusing here! Looking for mods or updates of mods CHECK THE VERSION OF YOUR GAME!

Heck, Enderal SE is the only one that still uses 1.5.97.

Repeating yourself won't make you correct. There is no edition of the game called the Anniversary Edition. The only thing called the Anniversary Edition is the bundle that gives you the Special Edition and the Anniversary Upgrade.

The mod authors saying otherwise are wrong.
