Issues with Parallax or something
Hello. Lets just say im like Apprentice level in modding.

I have the 202X texture overhaul, plus some Complex Parallax Powder snow mod. Everything was working fine at one point, then Im not really sure what happened.

Below will be screenshots

Thanks for any help

The issue is usually caused by terrain parallax settings within the ENBSeries.ini file. The installation instructions with the ENB usually has some information on adjusting these settings.

From my limited experience, this is usually caused by having EnableTerrainParallax set to 'true.' Again, check with your ENB installation and see if there are necessary edits for this as well as for the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini.

Sorry for the late response.

The line 'EnableTerrainParallax' is generally set to 'false' in the ENBSeries.ini file.
The other lines present using the Complex wording are the ones that are usually set to 'true.' It depends on your system as these being enabled can impact performance.

For the mod 'Vivid Landscapes - Complex Parallax Occlusion Snow,' the setting to change is in reference to the required mod 'Parallax Occlusion Mapping.' The description indicates to set the 'EnableComplexParallax=true' in the ENBSeries.ini. There is a chance that having this setting as 'true' may be causing your issue with the grass and rocks in other areas. Try setting this to 'false' and see if it corrects the issue.

I looked through the Vanilla ENB Two description and they mentioned to "Disable the games default SSAO or disable The Vanilla ENB 2's SSAO - Use one or the other not both." This is usually done within the SkyrimPrefs.ini or using the mod: BethINI (now BethINI Pie). With this tool, you would be able to:

Disable Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO)
Disable Snow Shader
Disable Lens Flare

EDIT: LOL!, I typed up a big explanation and you found the correction. I'm glad it worked for you! Happy gaming!

Thank you so much for the responses. You certainly seem like you know what you are doing. I went ahead and took care of the 3 items you listed inside BethINI. Youre so awesome for going and finding exactly what Im referring too about the Parallax. I wish I could repay you!

If I may just ask one more question; in BethINI - there is "Lens Flare" and then there is an additional "Anamorphic Lens Flare". Should I disable this one as well? I have no idea what this means

I would leave it alone. Generally, I like to first check the box next to 'Bethini recommended settings' and then disable the items mentioned. I will also set shadow detail from 4096 to 2048 as there is no real need to have shadows at 4k.

Ok, there is a Sticky Post on the page for "Vivid Landscapes - Snow".

It says the following:

If you use ENB,
EnableComplexParallax=true
EnableComplexParallaxShadows=true
EnableComplesTerrainParallax=true
EnableComplexTerrainParallaxShadows=true

Doing this as you mentioned, causes the problem im having - Specifically the last 2 lines "TerrainParallax+Shadows"

Enabling this makes the snow mod work and looks great, but ruins everything else. Probably just going to use another snow mod. Thanks for all the help

I have been using Simplicity of Snow with the Parallax Meshes optional file and have all of the complexparallax settings set to true without issue.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/56235

EDIT: There is also Dynamic Snow
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/9121

Both of these are not textures, but do enhance functionality. These paired with another snow texture may function better.

EDIT2:
Here are a couple to look into -

Ymmy Snow
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/107944

Snoblind

I will give these snow mods a look.

Maybe the question I should be asking is why are the textures from 202X breaking when I set the TerrianParallax to true? And why are they also breaking when I set ComplexTerrainParallax to true?

There are additional mods like Auto Parallax that are recommended along side these. On 202X by Pfuscher, it looks to me like people are enabling TerrainParallax without issue...

Im going to create a new thread to keep it fresh. Thanks for engaging

Setting these values to 'true' really makes the snow look good, Ill share a screenshot. If possible, id like to fix the spiky issue without having to turn these false

Well thanks a lot for your informations but i can t figure out why it works like that. I have spike on road and some "stone ground" but can even thinking about the reason.
EnableComplexGrass=true
EnableComplexGrassCollisions=true
EnableComplexParallax=true
EnableComplexParallaxShadows=true
EnableComplexTerrainParallax=true
EnableComplexTerrainParallaxShadows=true
Since i put it in my Enb series i got weird road bug with spikey gray things i tried to remove as you said

EnableComplexParallax=false
and desactive SSAO & lens but nothing work unfortunately. Still trying to fix it

Edit : Installing the 202X by Pfuscher removed the spiky bug but replaced my road mods by a gray cemented road a bit ugly

I am having the same issue with "spikey" textures with complex terrain enabled. With community shaders there is a slider that allows you to adjust the depth of the textures. I cannot seem to find a setting within my enb preset or within enblocal.ini that allows you to make this adjustment.

I read a lot about this bug. It s because 2 things :

First you have bad ENB ini or ENB not recommended for activate parallax or you have textures conflicts with non parallax and parallax. The best is to stick to NAT ENB recommendation in description : stick to 1 overhaul for grass 1 for trees & 1 for landscape and use only parallax texture or you can have the spikey texture. PErsonnally i disabled parallax i waste too much time for poor results.

I discovered the meshes I was using were parallax meshes but were not complex meshes. I installed the complex meshes and all is well.
