SkyUI not working & New ENBseries update???

Hello, I had been following a load order guide by Vlad 254 for version 1.6.640. It had me load SkyUI from here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604?tab=description
The mod page says it is for a different version: Version 5.2SE - Requires SKSE64 2.0.4 alpha or newer and and Skyrim 1.5.3.

From my research all I find is SkyUI only needs skse. The guide had me download skse and engine fixes. Upon going into console skse verifies by calling up the version number, yet I cannot get SkyUI to work. In game using a controller it pulls the vanilla menus. Upon more research I discovered the SkyUI 5.2 SE Plugin with Master Added mod here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/67166?tab=files. I installed it hoping it might work (as I seen Vlad used it in another guide version) and got the same result.

The guide I was following suddenly became hidden and I have been in the process of trying to get contact with the author on Steam to activate it, so currently I am unable to see if there are further steps I need to take. The guide also had me download Immersive HUD and MCM Helper mods too. Would anyone have any ideas to what could be causing skyUI not to run?

Also, upon launching the game and after it shows the ENB info, it says there is a new ENBseries update. As I just started this load order a few days ago now I knew I got the latest version, but thought it may have been updated. Upon verifying, there is no new update and I am using the latest version of 0.499 ,so I have no idea why it is saying that either. I figured I should mention it in case it is a flag to someone. Thanks for your time!

The notification of a new ENB is normal. The reason it is showing is because it looks at the experimental version as well as the public version. The experimental version is offered to Patreon subscribers of the ENB team for play testing.
And thanks Nabinkemper, sorry I missed your post then!

I replaced d3d11.dll and d3compiler_46e.dll files and the message stopped appearing. Also, the size of the new enb folder is 4555kb, the old 4554kb. So there was probably some kind of update.

I had other issues develop and to make a long story short, I did a clean install getting rid of everything but steam. I started another thread here asking about downloading the AE content, but the replies outlined all steps the LO guide had me do. Another reason for the fresh start. I'll reply there when the thread loads again as it seems to not be displayed.

Now all the AE has downloaded. After the guide had me install skse64 I called it up in console and got the version # displayed, so seems to be working. I am now up to installing SSE Engine fixes and hoping that is the culprit to my SkyUI issue.

The guide I am following can be found here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2944593951 and I am on step 4 of the Base Mods section, installing SSE Engine Fixes. The guide shows the sections to edit in the EngineFixes.toml file.

Upon reviewing the mod page posts for Engine Fixes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17230?tab=posts six posts down I found the following info:

Folks, there is no single mod or item that is borking your game with the 1.6.1130 update. It's a series of things you will need to address based on core changes made by Bethesda to .1130. SkyUI, Engine Fixes and SKSE all work with .1130. Below is a decent starting point to check once you have updated your game -- you are always free to downgrade your game back to 1.6.640 to get things back in order:

Skyrim 1.6.1170 Notes
Most of the adjustments listed below for Skyrim 1.6.1130 still apply with the following tweaks:

SKSE must be updated to version 2.2.6 for the Steam edition of the game. GOG users must wait for a separate update to SKSE.
USSEP does not require any update for 1.6.1170.
Instead of the SkyUI Difficulty Persistence Fix, use the Quest Journal Fix for SkyUI
Update any dll-based SKSE plugins to 1.6.1170 versions. Mods that have not been updated must be disabled.
Address Library must be updated to the 1.6.1170 version.

Skyrim 1.6.1130 Notes

SKSE must be updated to version 2.2.5
Use the latest version of USSEP for 1.6.1130 if you use this mod
Add the SkyUI SE - Difficulty Persistence Fix to address changes to the menu structure by Bethesda
Update any dll-based SKSE plugins to 1.6.1130 versions. Mods that have not been updated must be disabled.
If using Engine Fixes (or any other SKSE plugin that requires Address Library), Address Library must be updated to the 1.6.1130 version. Also make sure you are using Part 1 version 6.1.1, NOT 6.0.2.
If using Engine Fixes, settings in EngineFixes.toml must be adjusted (open it in Notepad) to work around the exclusion of Steam integration by Bethesda with its update. Set to false the below options in the toml file, or use Zanderat’s SSE Engine Fixes - Modified .toml File Only For SSE v1.6.1130. After changing the toml, also check to see if your plugins have been disabled in your mod manager and be sure to re-enable them. Use the Achievements Mods Enabler as a workaround for Steam achievements.

EnableAchievementsWithMods = false
SaveAddedSoundCategories = false
SaveScreenshots = false

Would anyone know how I need to proceed so SkyUI will work when I install it? As this is not in the guide I am not sure. From the bug section of SkyUI with the fix I wrote about earlier, and was unsuccessful with, I recognize the SkyUI Difficulty Persistance Fix mod. To save back tracking this thread, I did find that suggestion and tried it. It too was noted above. Thank you!

No solid solutions at the moment. The Difficulty Persistance Fix works and there are some solutions about getting achievements, at least for the 1.6.1130 patch. I think the SkyUI team (just a guess) is waiting for Bethesda to fix the UI issues and the Steam integration. If not, others will have to jump in, Another Skyrim patch seems to be scheduled for some time in February.

Aaaahhh, thank you Altbert! I read somewhere the skyUI team is talking about an update. Guess that was before the holidays so the person was hoping after the holidays it would be out. Seems like people always waiting on Bethesda or cleaning up after them, ugh.

Alright, well, any suggestions on how I should proceed to loading engine fixes? Like, follow only the guide for the .toml file, etc. And if I download everything skipping the skyUI mods and related, will it mess up anything if I install it later?

I got a fix for the .1170 version in regard to the achievements.
Right now, I am in the middle of upgrading my mods and the only one, so far, that gave me constant ctds is the compass navigation overhaul.
I would recommand people to check on this Nexus thread:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17230?tab=posts

follow the instructions as stated and most of the problems will get solved.
I got Papyrus, MCM, SKSE library, SkyUi, and all fundamental mods working at this point. It does take care of most SKSE mods, except some that still need to upgrade.

Now, gonna try and make Ruby enb for Obsidian work again.
Wish me luck.
Seekrt Jan 24, 2024 @ 9:49pm
Ok, so just got that installed and it did not crash the game.
Now just need RaceMenu to work. It has too many impacts all around.
Won't even start a new game until that is upgraded.
Seekrt Jan 25, 2024 @ 6:48pm
I did install the latest, together with Rudy for Obsidian and Lux. Works fine but the compiler is really taking its sweet time. Takes so long, I thought I had a game freeze for a moment. But it did work in the end.

As for SkyUI, it seems to be working fine. Just some problems with some of the mods that change the look. Also with True Hud.
Altbert Jan 26, 2024 @ 3:07am
Instead of TrueHUD I'm using Dear Diary Dark Mode. TrueHUD gave me problems, although there seems to be a patch for it.

I was using Dear Diary, paper mode.
Has a problem with squished windows on the left side.
I know there is a fix that exists but not for 21:9.
Just have to wait some more I guess.

There is also the compass mod that is broken. I really like using that one too.
Altbert Jan 26, 2024 @ 8:24am
I don't use that mod. Does it have an SKSE DLL plugin? If so, could be that the DLL needs an update.
Seekrt Jan 26, 2024 @ 8:53am
Exactly.

It's called Compass Navigation Overhaul. Real nice when it works.

Holy Moly.
Just checked and it seems to have been updated.

Edit: False alarm.

Tell us if it works, and I will add it to my guide!
