Strange bug - Mods not running
Ok, so to wait untill my *very heavy* modded Skyrim gets updated on all its mods is completed, I've decided to install Skyrim on another computer to pass time.

Do eveything as usual, Vortex, SKSE, blah... download a few mods so it's playable, I start the game... mods ain't activating somehow. Everything looks fine in Vortex, but them mods ain't showing up in the game, and not showing up in the menu either...?

Anyone has an idea ?

Don't use vortex, use NMM. https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/305

Outdated advice. Nothing functionally wrong with Vortex.

As for the OP's question.
Two things I can think of in the first instance

1) Just to make absolutely sure, you have deployed your mods?

2)You should have a text document in the following location - C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Appdata\Local\Skyrim SE\Plugins

Is the plugins document there and does it contain your load order?

Edit: And you are launching through the SKSE? Also did you launch the vanilla game once and create a save?

I had a similar problem where SKSE mods wouldn't load at all and the mod configuration menu didn't even appear. The culprit happened to be one of my 50 mods. Try disabling mods like 5 or 10 at a time and see if it eventually loads the rest.

Hmmm, well that's strange : I don't have an "Appdata" folder...? What gives !?

And I did started from SKSE Loader yeah...

It's damn weird : I have a Load order in Vortex, but when I get in game, it doesn't recognize it

The AppData folder is hidden by default. You have to unhide hidden folders. Activated mods are marked with an asterisk in front of the mod name in Plugins.txt.

Ok, I got it. So how come my mods are activated in Vortex, but not showing as activated in the Load order list ? First time it ever does this to me. (Just checked and none got an asterisk.)

EDIT : Ok, seems I have to go in "Creation" in the game and activate them there for the game to recognize them, which is an additional step from before... but then again, not everything seems to work... SKY UI amongst others.

Which version of the game are you using? 1.6.1130 or 1.6.1170? For the 1130 version you can use SSE Engine Fixes and dependencies with some adjustments in the .toml file. May work for 1170 as well, but haven't been able to test it. For more info see:

Thanks, I have SSE Engine Fix, but haven't modified the .toml file, will try this out...

I swear those updates are killing me... :crtstressed:
