How to roll back to Skyrim 1.6.640.0.8

For all of us who have too many mods to reinstall them one by one.
I found a solution that worked for me and I'll be glad if it works for you too. My deepest gratitude to papabrando from Nexus's comments, which saved me a lot of nerves and time. Original quote:

if you guys are having trouble with the patcher for 1.6.640 and have the time you can just use the steam console to redownload the files, worked for

just throw those into the steam console one at a time and it'll download
them to your steamapps/common/content folder, replace ur skyrim stuff
with that and ur good to go

P. S. A small warning: this method may break the in-game console font, turning all letters into squares. You can still enter commands, and they will even work (say, spawn an item in the inventory), but otherwise the console becomes completely uninformative. As far as I understand, this only happens to those who installed Skyrim in a language other than English. If I can solve this problem, I will definitely add to this post.

Just remember to turn off auto updates, people. Set it to update only upon lunch and then NEVER use steam to launch the game, only ever SKSE launcher and you wont have this problem again

Gog had this cool feature where you could just select which version to download and run the game from that version with no auto updates. Why doesn't Steam have something like that instead of trying to do it the hard way like this?

I still wonder why they decided to remove the option to not update the game. Although I didn't think I would need it until today.

ok so i may need some help cause i downloaded everything and tried to play the game. keeps saying game is newer than the skse and won't play it. where exactly can i find these files so i can put them in the right place?

jsyk i put pretty much everything in my D: drive because it had more storage space.

you put the files from the 3 depots you downloaded (they're in steamapps/content) into your skyrim folder (steamapps/common/skyrim se)

if it's saying there's a problem with skse it might also be that, so redownload that and just throw it in there with the other files

click ur windows key+r and then paste: steam://open/console

it'll open steam with the console tab
