<MISSING NAME> Bug

A bit ago I discovered a bug that I can find no apparent fix to. I'm not too far into my playthrough so I don't know what other item is effected. As of now, the only item that has this label is Steel Daggers. I can see this and people can still use them to an extent, but their name shows up as the ALPHA symbol, or missing name. I can pick it up but it vanishes into my inventory giving me weight still. I discovered this but on a mod-less playthrough, but I did try installing some mods to fix it and it didn't work. For some extra knowledge, I tried to do some research and someone thought is was the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, furthermore other people had a multitude of items missing including daedric items. If any of you have any idea or solution I'll gratefully accept it.

Try validating the Master files. This can happen when a mod alters the name and is then removed, or if a mod that edits the item is missing the name or has an incorrect record.

Okay... I'm gonna be honest it fixed itself and I don't know how. To explain, I had my skyrim and vortex mods on the D drive of my pc, I reinstalled skyrim moving it over to the C drive to see if that fixes anything. I even moved over the mods just in case. I booted it up to see creations lab is at the main menu once again (it wasn't before). I loaded in, and it didn't fix it. To put salt on the wound my mods weren't working. So I thought I could at least keep Inigo in my party I switched everything back over to my D drive. I loaded in the game and found Inigo there, the mods worked again. I looked over and suddenly I could interact, pick up, ect the Steel Dagger. In conclusion I have no idea what I did but it worked.

See the first post - verifying the master files is usually the best first thing to do when there are issues with vanilla things in the game.

The same thing happens to me with every ebony weapon I find and also with two different characters created.

I have a problem, but only with this item names:
- Glass mace and Glass warhammer
- Ebony mace and ebony war axe
I can grab them from draugrs or other enemies, but I can't equip them and they give additional weight.
I tried these options but nothing happens:
- enchanting them and changing their names but still the same
- install on other drives , nothing happens
- i tried even skyrim unofficial patch but the same resultats
- new playthrough dosen't work
- changning languge (for me)
But i see it's somthing from language files (maybe i'm wrong) because on my game I play in Polish and when I change the language to English this bug disappears and everything works as it should

i have the same issue and i play in french. i hope there is a mod to patch this. (i am sorry for my bad english)

For everyone here wondering how I fixed it, I'm sorry I can't really answer that. What I did was swapped around installing my game on my C to D drive and that fixed it somehow? Other than that I have no idea what I did to fix the game.

I as well have the exact problem but in german. I would appreciate if some one knows at fix to this without changing language.

I have the same issue with the following items in my french version :
-dwarven/steel/elven/orcish/daedra dagger
-ebony mace and war axe
-elven battelaxe
I may have missed some.
i have this issue with my playthrough where I've never added any mods. On my modded playthrough, I don't know why but the bug isn't here !
I think it's related to the last update and I'm quite sure it's about the language files (French, German and Polish as some of you said), and I don't think Bethesda will ever notice it someday :/

For the french :

j'ai ce problème avec une de mes partie où je n'ai jamais utilisé de mods, mais sur une de mes partie moddée, je n'ai pas le bug !
je pense que c'est lié à la dernière mise à jour et je suis quasiment certain que c'est un problème avec les fichier de langues (Français, Allemand et Polonais comme certains ici l'ont dit) Et je pense pas que Bethesda le remarquera un jour où l'autre :/

Its all about update file from the game...So download and use sseEdit. Then load game Update.esm file. Under weapon you will see alot of <Error Unknown Istring ID .....> So you need to make a new patch and carry name from master file Skyrim.esm to your new file, patch.

I have the same problem too, so far only with daggers
I play in German
I tried using sseEdit, downloaded it but don't understand how to use it properly.

I have now come up with a solution, I created a mod with the CK and saved all the daggers again, but left their original settings, so far it works.
