You have options - The Unofficial Downgrade Patcher
The Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Downgrade Patcher:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618

- FullPatcher_1.6.1130.0-1.5.97.0.exe. No "Evil wicked" blah blah blah CC mods. Boomerrim.
- BestOfBoth_1.6.1130.0-1.5.97.0.exe. Todd shot your dog. Boomerrim with benefits.
- FullPatcher_1.6.1130.0-1.6.640.0.exe. Zoomerrim. (?).
- BestOfBoth_1.6.1130.0-1.6.640.0.exe. Zoomerrim with benefits. (?).

Question marks on the two "Zoomerrims" because I don't understand the difference between a "full" and "best of both worlds" patch for 1.6.640.0.8, beyond maybe compatibility for paid CC content.

Everybody wins, including the m o n s t e r s who would pay $33 USD for - GASP! - extra console commands, extra Creation Kit features, ini tweak gameplay-relevant features, heightened stability and performance, and funding the future endeavors of a "bad" company who makes video games that people with 2000 hours played in their games think are bad.

My bad. You're not even obligated to pay a red cent to access those particular benefits, lol.

I'm saying we have options, and that the paid mods outrage is literally over $33 USD, to be expanded in the future and, let alone, the mods allowed to be monetized are held under scrutiny before being allowed for submission as per Bethesda's own rules. Nobody is obligated to even use 1.6.1130.0, just as nobody was obligated to use 1.6.640.0.8, unless you play on console.

As per usual, Bethesda's openness to modding (of all venues) makes their games widely accessible to everyone. Console players always had to rely on Bethesda.net mods, and still will. Most console mods don't even require updates. PC players can freely downgrade, but not all PC players even want to. They're the most affected by the need to wait for updates, but that's only if they wish to stay current. Again, downgrade if your load order means so much to you, and back up your downgraded files for the future when you will inevitably verify Skyrim's core files. It's the one way to ensure you can keep your old modded loads forever, and it's literally how Wabbajack mod list installer authors and other such modlist authors ensure their extensive mod lists stay secure. How else would Nolvus, which uses 1.5.97, still work?

~

You have options. What is better? Freedom, or needless stress?

I'll report all of your inevitable inflammatory responses after I tend to my life.

"The mods allowed to be monetized are held under scrutiny before being allowed for submission as per Bethesda's own rules" is a cute one, considering they can barely keep from breaking their own rules. Just look at Starfield and its zero awards won. And don't blame Baldur's Gate 3, everyone got pants'd in front of that game like it was 1998.

(1998 was Half-Life 1's year of release.)

Thrilling.

Brb, enjoying Planet Earth's seventh best selling video game of all history. 👑
