Winter hold tips.

I'm doing a Modless run so I need some tips for how to deal with winter hold. Every time I have to go there I try to leave survival mode on but one quest or another causes me to say screw it and turn FT everywhere. I say everywhere because I have gotten most locations unlocked while survival mode was active. But there is no good way out. Either I have to pray to not freeze going to dawn star and using a boat to winter hold or solitude or ride to winter holdto get a cart to out of the north. Any advice or tips because my magic quests are about to begin and I don't want to play without Survival mode but I hate that area.

You could try to become a Werewolf or Vampire Lord, you cannot freeze to death while you're transformed.

I will be honest I keep forgetting I even have it. I got it maxed but every time I use it I run into BS like required locked doors.

just so you know you can still fast travel in survival mode.

it's not supposed too, but there's a glitch when leaving a building for a moment the game forgets you're playing survival mode and allows you to fast travel right when exiting a building.

be warned tho, it's just like fallout nv survival mode when you fast travel, it will deplete hunger and thirst the further you travel.

Lol that could help. Honestly I'm in the habit of going to inns and buying all meat and fish so I'm always up on supplies. Cold and sleep normally screw me since I'm a mage.
