I was so looking forward to playing Skyrim with guns.
A friend of mine was grumbling about how a new Skyrim update broke their game, so I went to check out what the new update was all about. I saw they added guns to the game. So I thought Heh, this is kinda funny, didn't I make a completely unmodded character like two years ago last I played the game that was level 30-something? I bet I can go and get this gun and finish the game by blasting Alduin or whatever his name is (like most of you I have never finished a single full run of this game). Might even do that stealth archer thing everyone loves for once, instead of my usual heavy armor, two-handed and destruction build I always do.

So I updated the game, turned it on, loaded my character, looked at my quest log, didn't find anything gun related, went to check the Creation store/menu/whatever it's called, and saw that I don't own the thing, I'd have to buy it, it's not included for free for those who bought Anniversary Edition.

What a shame. Maybe when Second Anniversary Edition goes on a 50% off sale in 2032 I'll get to play it.

Lore Friendly Guns of Skyrim (Formerly Rifles)[www.nexusmods.com] has been out for years. Sure, the creations mod one also has a new dwemer dungeon. But it's a relatively short one with a duration of 30 minutes or so.

people have been making guns based on crossbow mechanics ever since (i think) hearthfires was added.

There are soooo many games out there with guns. If you want a first person shooter game, there are dozens of them out there for sale.

There are no guns in Skyrim just remodelled and enchanted crossbows called "guns"

It would have been Dawnguard, not Hearthfires. Dawnguard was the one that brought in crossbows in the first place.

FarCry has often been called "Skyrim with guns". Just google it. It is what I am currently doing while waiting for the mod authors to catch up with the new Skyrim version, play FarCry.

I remember gun mods for Oblivion, and of course Bethesda's 2008 masterpiece "Oblivion with guns"...I mean Fallout 3.
