Through Patreon you’re essentially “donating” to the mod maker and “subscribing” to their page - giving you access to things that non-subscribers cannot see or download.
However, I think entirely locking something behind a Patreon subscription is a no-no, instead what I’ve seen some mod makers do is release an “alpha” or “early version” of their mod for subscribers, but then eventually release the full/completed version later on either on Nexus or as something anyone viewing their page can have access to.
An example of this is the guy who makes Maximum Carnage. He has a Patreon where he’ll post alpha/beta versions of the latest updates to the MC mod which subscribers have access to, but then the latest “working” version is freely available on Nexus. When he’s satisfied enough with the alpha/beta update to fully implement it, then he pushes out an update for everyone via Nexus.
Skyblivion is by definition a whole-ass tes game. And what I understand of BS:Cyrodiil is that it's not far behind that. I assume the prices would reflect that.
In a sense, Skyblivion is now in competition with the actual Oblivion remake. Bethesda/Microsoft is not going to give a platform for such a competitor to benefit from - they’ll want people to buy the actual remake.
In fact, I’m sure Beth/Microsoft has likely had some internal discussions regarding whether or not they should issue a Cease and Desist Order to the Skyblivion team. As of now though, it appears as if they’re not going to…
The Beyond Projects…I’ve been trying to keep faith in them but it’s been years since BS Bruma, a similar release was supposed to arrive for Valenwood in September 2022 but it never materialized and they never said why, and they’ve only dropped YouTube showcases every couple months and a minor item here and there for use in Skyrim.
I don’t know…sometimes I’ve wondered if the leaders of the BS team are connected to that “Academy” for aspiring mod makers and these projects are just mostly being used for recruitment - drawing in potential “students” to enroll in “classes”. I tried searching one time for information, specifically if they charge “tuition” but I couldn’t find anything.
Regardless, I doubt the BS projects would be featured on Creations - mostly because the teams wouldn’t opt to put their stuff on there for various reasons.
