Not the point. That BGS wants to own the Gateway for Mods is. That they can't lock out the 3rd party sites has more to do with Creation Engine being made of Swiss Cheese. When they update to fix the Engine, or otherwise find a way to shut out 3rd parties, then how will you feel about it..? Cuz that is, was and always will be the goal. To make their gateway the only gateway to obtain any mods, free or paid.
Being aggravated by bad business decisions is not a 'panic'. No one is in a panic. The timing is sus, the reasoning is sus and the update content that was provided is lame.. So ya.. everyone should be looking at this with suspicion. My leading theory continues to be, break Skyrim after releasing a tone of free content, to cover suspicions. Then everyone will migrate to other games, a percentage of them will go to Starfield, to boost daily numbers.
Released Sept 6 to midling reviews and a wide spectrum of complaints. Through Black Friday already 20% off, now an ongoing extended 30% off.. By Xmas I'd bet it goes to 40%..
Unless you are using unofficial mods there is no reason not to get the upgrade though...
The AE released all the DLC as free content. The only reason I went that far. My version of Gate to Sovngarde requires AE content. Rolling back to SE would be a rather obnoxiously complicated path to follow.
If your assumption is that BGS is all White Hats and Best Intentions, I'd believe you are not being genuine in your argument. The history shows BGS's intentions are not in favor of the players or modders. Never were.
So, they had me swill down a strange concoction to get rid of it. The cure was quite strong and not only cured my addition to Skyrim, but also worked to cure me of any and all addictions or desire for anything Microsoft.
Anyway, yeah, we both have the option in the EULA where the lawyers have hit us with a whopping 18 word dragon shout: "IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THIS SOFTWARE." Whoa, one-shot, one-kill, what can I say?
I am going to leave it installed, but i have to confess it is so weird to actually feel pain when launching the game now. It's especially painful since I am a teetotaler and cannot use large quantities of alcohol for a refuge. The treatment, while raw and harsh, worked quite well. Now I am in Steam group therapy to help with recovery up to and possibly to include an extended stay at a residential treatment facility. So that is my story. [/me] Hangs head low and considers the spectral atomic backscatter of the dirt in the carbon organic structures beneath my boots. May Mara be with you.
It's worth pointing out however, that if BGS NEVER had the modders and players interests at heart as you say, then why release the CK for all their their single player games so far, for free?
