Just use the current SKSE for Anniversary Edition
Everything is working just fine with the SKSE AE version. It looks like Bethesda consolidated Special Edition and Anniversary Edition into one

I like how people just want to argue with me instead of trying it.

Meanwhile, I’ve been playing Skyrim with all my mods for a couple hours now instead of arguing with people that are just flat out wrong

Different for everyone - I had over 30 address errors.

Had to use the steam console to download old files

Enter into console in steam (Individuality, wait for download complete between) and it downloads the downgrade files to the content folder in your drives steam install folder. Copy to Skyrim install folder and it will work, revert the update - Download crack so you never have this again and you are golden! Beth promoting piracy for convenience but okay.

Can use symbolic links if steam directory drive is full - But this is your only hope - Worked for me with latest skse

1024 mods, hours upon hours tweaking the load orders, managing rules through trail and error, just wiped out so Bethesda can use old game as a f$#cking petri dish for their new garbage nickel and dime model? Absolutely F%$K this damn company!

I just ended up replacing my entire install from a backup.
After the update went through, re locked the acf file.
Running as normal again, granted this is dependent on people.
Backing up their installs prior to an update.

I'd call those pro numbers. After several thousand hours on three different platforms, I appreciate elegant modding. You can run 400 mods, but why oh why would you? Somewhere btw 30-50 hi quality mods will make the game incredibly pretty and fun. More than that, and you're putting on tanning oil instead of enjoying the beach.

it doesn't matter if you use the AE address library or not, depending on how many mods you run... (I use 1024) eventually you'll encounter a Dll issue, and when you go cutting specific mods out of your roster you get some serious issues... so no this isn't a fix all solution. Bethesda bit the big one on this.

Were you starting from AE or SE? I should’ve specified that I’ve never purchased AE, so the update today set my version number in parity with the AE executable version

That’s my philosophy on mods. I’ve been at this since Morrowind, so I’ve got no patience for huge mod lists that change the game so much that it’s fundamentally different or downright broken. The core gameplay of Skyrim is already top-notch , and i just like to enhance it a little here and there instead of a huge overhaul that leaves me worried it’ll crash at any moment

This is what i been trying to explain to some people in previous threads, The Anniversary edition is an add on for those that had the special edition but a whole new version for those that never owned the special edition, The anniversary edition sells in it's own right as a complete game for 79.95 full price in steam store, owners of the previous classic game and all the DLC that never bought the special edition got the Anniversary edition free which is a totally new stand alone from the old classic edition just to be clear.

Its a new edition so to speak released in 2021 that has all the gear included from the special edition released in october 2016.

Indeed. I noticed the build number reported by SKSE in the error popup was the same as the version the SKSE AE version was built for, so i made a backup of the folder and replaced my old SKSE for the SE with the AE and everything works. SkyUI, Better Citizens, Ordinator, Apocalypse Magic, etc are all working

I’m still using the SE addresses without issue. It seems the update only gives you the AE executable if you’ve never purchased the AE content for SE, but none of the content. I’m anticipating an error eventually, but 2 hours or so in without one is pretty much indistinguishable from normal Bethesda game behavior and is good enough for me

"It's Urk-day, I'm in love"
I thought I was one of the few left alive that had modded Morrowind. Damn, memory lane. The first game I ever created a mod for (and of course it was for a elf stealth archer ;p)
Second mod was a modest Sedya Neen tree-house. :)

1024 mods? For what? Amazing how a game can brake any time with those numbers, uh?

Not true. Tons of mods still dont work.

Someone posted a workaround here that actually works.

Ah, the good old days of spamming the space bar while stuck under the docks at the starting area and being able to jump over houses in a couple hours
