And in future, make sure you set updates on steam to only update when you launch the game. Then never ever launch the game via steam, only through skse.exe.
I didn't think this would stop the game from launching in steam but thank you for your help I shall do this
As you use Vortex, right click on the mod's name and open the nexus page link. If it has a dependency on SKSE, then disable it. If the game still doesn't launch on to the next one.
Note; You won't be able to continue an old save with this method.
alright i shall do that. a question i have i why would it stop the steam version of skyrim to not launch? are there technically mods in the steam version even tho i only downloaded mods into vortex?
When you install mods via Vortex it places the files in your game folder which Steam uses (unless you are installing mods to a backed up copy of the game).
Also Vortex will not automatically launch the game via SKSE instead. You have to assign the command line yourself(unless that has changed recently).
When you launch from steam it will still load up your game based on your load order, so if you have mods that are broke, it will still cause your game to crash to desktop.
