Mod Skyrim
Hey guys, I really want to mod my Skyrim game. I've already watched some videos to get an overview of which mods are recommended and how the whole process works. However, my problem is that I don't have a Steam folder in my file explorer, so I can't access the Skyrim folder. I don't know why this is happening. I've already reinstalled Steam and Skyrim, but still, I can't find the Steam folder. I'm quite inexperienced with all this, and I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance!

I Think you made an fundmental mistake
you have to install the file in d drive, cant be in c drive
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGT_m8SSggA
see this

1. install steam on d drive
2. install skyrim on d drive
3. create a new folder in d drive for modding
4. insert SKSE in skyim file
5. and you have to also install some requirement for running skse , e.g. windowsdesktop-runtime-3.1.30-win-x64; Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019
6. install LOOT for load order
7. install some mod for running the system, eg. fnis
8. if you are playing SE version , you need to downgrade
............

there are too many steps, I can not tell you in detail

Hi this isn't meant to be insulting, I am just trying to keep it simple... If you are not experienced enough to find the steam folder, than you should go with the easiest way to mod, which is using the creation option.

in the main game select "creations" (which are really "mods") and then scroll down to the lists of available mods/creations. The way the list is setup, it's meant to be easy with a simple click and download, so you don't need to worry about manual adjustments to folders and such. Then you can manage mods within the game and not within the game folder.

NOTE, you don't have to pay for any of the mods, there are some available that you can pay for, but there are many that are free.

And if you run into any issues in game, because of a mod that you downloaded, you can use the "load order" option to activate or deactivate a mod. (if a mod gives you trouble or you think it gives you trouble, deactivate it to test and then delete it as needed.)

Have you gone to the nexus. They have a program call vortex that makes moding simple as there is also Mod ogranizer 2 that works well for moding your game.

I started to watch a video, but I didn’t finished it yet, cause I’m the other videos they all mentioned that I should put the the data from the unzipped folder in the steamfolder> Skyrim folder which I couldn’t find( and I seriously tried to find it trough many searches), but if u mean that the vortex program is a easy way to mod Skyrim I’m going also to try it out:)thank u !

just use the STEP mod guide for your first time. It helps you from installing Steam to the very end. it's set-up and written so you don't have to know a lot beforehand to use it.
https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/SkyrimSE:2.2.0
Hi! If you have client 1.6.11 Skyrim SE, you can also try running Skyrim through Vortex. This is a manager program for installing mods. If it runs through it, then just take the standard collection, for example: https://next.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/collections/aqse1j/revisions/4?tab=Mods
«Basic starter mods for any SKSE dependent modded play-through. 100% tested and working on an otherwise vanilla new game. I included LAL for ease of testing».
It's perfect!

After that you can try install on top some mods for SE and test it. Don't forger about requirements for each mod you install.

What's also surprising is that some Anniversary Edition mods are compatible with Skyrim SE.
And yes, some of the mods are a pain in the ass to install right. But these are rare cases. Most often, support for some mods is simply suspended.

Don't listen to sing, he's giving you incorrect advice because he's not technical and learned what he thought was the issue, followed some advice and it worked, so he's assuming he's right. It's that standard principle - "correlation does not imply causation."

So hoping he can learn as well as you can, what the issue is, don't let Steam install under Program Files; while the Steam client can be there, you need to be technical to move the steamapps tree elsewhere; you don't want those game files you'll be editing under Program Files, however, because it's a Windows monitored directory and can cause a ton of issues and just endless clicking OK for all the UAC pop-ups. It's just easier to reinstall Steam elsewhere.

But it doesn't have to be another drive, Many systems only have 1 drive/partition mapped visible as C. You can put it in C:\Steam or C:\Games\Steam or as many people do, under a user account home directory, like C:\Users\<your_acct>\Steam\... but just not under Program Files.
